The lawsuit brought against the state claims sheriffs are faced with a "crisis of conscience"
A group of sheriffs will file a lawsuit Thursday against Colorado for its legal marijuana law.
The lawsuit says legalizing pot on a state level while its still illegal on a federal one creates a crisis of conscience, USA Today reports.
Colorado is asking every peace officer to violate their oath, Larimer County, Colo., Sheriff Justin Smith, the lead plaintiff in the suit, said. What were being forced to do
makes me ineligible for office. Which constitution are we supposed to uphold?

“weed” is NOT at all like gay marriage.
You might as well say they should outlaw Alcohol because if not we have to license people to marry their pets.
One has absolutely nothing to do with the other.
One is a medicinal, industrial, textile, and yes, recreational, plant which was MADE ILLEGAL in an attempt to discourage Mexican immigrants less than a century ago. The other is a NEW concept straight from Communist teachings to destroy Western Society. BIG DIFFERENCE.
You should look in a mirror.
We certainly get second hand bill paying for all the dope smokers. Like I said, every dope smoker I know is getting some sort of government check, and in a lot of cases their children are being supported by the state.
Alaska disagreed - and also legalized pot.
Well...they could be arresting illegal aliens.
I know reading is hard but I’m not pro-dope, I’m pro-freedom. I think alcohol, nicotine and other, so-called recreational drugs are an abomination that destroy human life. I think laws against them destroy human freedom. I know the distinction is difficult for some but not most.
Well said!
You can believe anything you like, but you can't force reality to conform to your beliefs.
The frothers will never abandon such slurs - I've decided to wear them as badges of honor.
The lives of nations are measured in Centuries, not decades. It was a relatively short period after drug usage had become widespread enough to notice.
I haven’t resorted to cutting-and-pasting from biased sources; I wish you would too. Drug laws enrich and strengthen the cartels the same way prohibition created the Mob. Your support for such laws is support for the cartels. That’s the net effect irrespective of your fond intent. BTW, my kids had the option of using drugs and chose not to because they know better. It’s called responsible parenthood.
I would say that anyone accepting an unearned paycheck from the government most certainly need to have their lives regulated. If they weren't doing something wrong, they wouldn't need to be getting money from me.
Don't like my apples? Stop shaking my tree.
You're just SOL.
You should keep reading, it is obvious from your posts you have neglected huge swaths of historical record in your quest to control free people.
Sig Heil
As I clearly indicated, drug users should be held accountable for their actions. If they are narcotizing others, they should be held to account for such actions.
I'm on board with that - what about those not accepting an unearned paycheck from the government?
And here we go again with the usual Libertarian false comparison to alcohol.
What your argument boils down to is this.
" Waaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!! They get Alcohol!!! I want my Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeedddd!!!!"
Your point is clear. You think a Christian should have to quit their job as a marriage license clerk or else be complicit with an immoral law.
These sheriffs took on their jobs when marijuana was both immoral and illegal. Now that its legal, you want them to shut up.
If your boss asked you to lie on the office reports, would you do it?
And you think Freedom will continue to exist in a Libertarian society? How naive.
And then
You can believe anything you like, but you can't force reality to conform to your beliefs.
See, projecting. There are nice people who can help you work through your obsession. It's unhealthy.
