SANTA CRUZ, Calif. Six young protesters are blocking Highway 1 in Santa Cruz where the fishhook merges with Highway 17.
A California Highway Patrol officer told KSBW that the protesters are University of California Santa Cruz students.
They are using their bodies, trash cans filled with cement, and pipes to block southbound lanes. Students are linked together and laying down across the usually-busy highway.
While holding a banner reading "Fight The Hikes," demonstrators said they are standing up against tuition hikes by the University of California system, as well as police brutality.

Why not add signs like “Don’t give in-state tuition rates to illegals?” or “Our tuition should go to real expenses. Down with Black/Womyn’s studies!”
Why is this so difficult? They are all chained together, hook up your cruiser to their chain and DRAG THEM AWAY. or just open the highway.
Just shut-up and increase the amount of your student loans. The leftist academics need more money for whatever.
Hint to students: Go check out the staff parking lots. See all those awesome cars in there? Now, imagine how they got all those nifty toys - right, by spending less than 20 hours a week in a class room. You paid for all of that.
And the reason why you’re paying more is that none of those well heeled folks want to bother spending more time in the classroom each week. If they worked just 20% more, your tuition would go down.
I’ll let you think about that while the CHP arrests you.
Anybody ask them how much their professors make?
Sounds like a good plan. If they are chained to the concrete filled trash cans, just tow them over to the side of the road and leave them there to inhale the exhaust from all the traffic. It’s a slow way to go, but hey...they won’t have to worry about tuition hikes.
Oh c’mon now students, we need to give those professors another raise for teaching an average of 1.8 classes per semester, or less than 6 hours in the classroom each week. Plus, those administrators — well, they have bills to pay too.
And let’s not forget the responsibility to educate the illegals to hate America even more.
Student see that steamroller and scream “Don’t Tiannenman Square Me, Bro! don’t Rachel Corrie Me either!”
Get a couple pickups, park them about 2 feet from the protesters, and put bricks on the horns. After a few minutes they will be begging to move.
"RAMMING SPEEED!"
And there goes the feed... Can’t have the people watching...

Hey you witless wonders! You voted for democrats and now they are going to ensure that you pay your way and pay for the illegals as well. Your vote counts, your vote hurts, your vote makes it your fault.
They just have too much time on their hands.....put them to work at Wendy’s.
More proof that college does not require intelligence. I am willing to bet that these 6 idiots are on every government grant and loan available. Furthermore. Stupid should hurt, bad. If i ever come across idiots like this there are great products to make their time sitting on the assfault very uncomfortable. One, is an ear blasting horn pulled right up to their heads. The other, but difficult without a turnaround, is to gas them out with exhaust. Third is a great stink bomb gag called “Liquid Ass.” A few strategically splaced sprays will make their time memorable to say the least. Idiots who chose to be idiots deserve to be punished.
“Let’s put that hornet’s nest rescue center right about here.”
No Wendy’s jobs for them, the illegal teenagers will have all of those. Too bad they voted for democrats because they voted to give away their hope and future for the hope and future of Dreamers and their parents. Sucks to be as stupid as they are.
