The execution of the only woman on Georgia's death row has been postponed at the last minute for a second time in less than a week - because the drug used in the lethal injection she was scheduled to receive was 'cloudy'.
Kelly Renee Gissendaner, 46, was due to be given an injection of pentobarbital at a prison in Jackson at 7pm on Monday in retribution for plotting the murder of her husband in 1997.
But after officials observed the drug to be used in the execution had a 'cloudy' appearance, they postponed her death until a future, unspecified date 'out of caution', according to 11Alive.
The decision came as the US Supreme Court considered whether or not to grant Gissendaner a stay of execution after a last-ditch appeal for clemency was denied by state officials.

Guillotine. Firing squad. Hanging. All kinds of alternatives.

Too bad - I believe in the equality of men and women. She should die.

After she scarfs down a few more “last meals” like that, they’re gonna need a bigger syringe.

Hanging done correctly is very effective and quick. And you can reuse the rope... :-)

Just being prudent. Wouldn't want her to get, like, infected or anything.
Just before the executioner administers the lethal injection, does he first swab the condemned gal's skin with an alcohol swab to make sure no germs enter the puncture site?

Were they afraid it might have some bacteria in the pentobarbital that might give her an infection? Good Grief. Are they afraid it’s UNSAFE to use??? Give me a break, it is intended to KILL HER!

Sounds to me like grasping at straws to delay this for some reason. Governor doesn’t want the only woman on death row killed on his watch maybe? Not sure, just guessing.

Firing squad. It’s kinda too good for criminals, but it’s what we have that no one can object to. The body is pretty much destroyed in the process, which is unfortunate for the next of kin.

Must be a South thing. My guess is a dinner salad dipped in an egg wash, rolled in cracker crumbs, deep fried, and served with country gravy.

Hanging done correctly is very effective and quick. And you can reuse the rope... :-) The guillotine is even better. If you pack the head between the legs, it reduces the amount of pine needed for the box.

Her codefendant, who actually carried out the murder, accepted a plea deal in exchange for his testimony, got a life sentence and is eligible for parole in 8 more years.
It was posted yesterday that she turned down the same deal.
