WASHINGTON Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday opened his high-profile visit to the American capital by playing down any personal dispute with President Obama, but he said that he had a moral obligation to warn against the dangers of an American-brokered nuclear deal with Iran.
Previewing his hotly disputed address to Congress, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Mr. Netanyahu said at the annual conference of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee that he was grateful to Mr. Obama and the United States for their support over the years and never meant to inject partisan politics into the relationship.
He characterized the disagreement over Iran to a fight within a family that would ultimately be overcome.
My speech is not intended to show any disrespect to President Obama or the esteemed office that he holds, Mr. Netanyahu told the estimated 16,000 people gathered here. I have great respect for both.

BUT ... there is one thing that should be made clear ... in that this is not just an issue that is simply related to our people here and that there are those lining up with Obama and others lining up against Obama.
FOR ISRAEL, there are many in Israel who are against Netanyahu doing this and giving this speech to Congress, as they say it will actually end up STRENGTHENING IRAN in its actions. There are plenty of IDF and others in the ISRAELI military establishment who are against this because they say it will DAMAGE military ties between the U.S. and Israel and strengthen Iran!

When the Israeli prime minister argues that his speech will stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, he is not only misleading Israel, he is strengthening Iran, Amnon Reshef, former head of the armys armored corps, said at a news conference Sunday.

TEL AVIV Hours after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu set off Sunday for Washington, a group of 180 retired Israeli generals and former top security officials warned that his upcoming address to a joint meeting of Congress on Irans nuclear program will cause more harm than good.
It will not only damage Israels special relationship with the United States but also undermine military and intelligence ties, they said.
Rather than slowing down Irans nuclear project, the former security officials said, Netanyahus speech Tuesday will bring the Islamic republic closer to developing a nuclear bomb.
I really feel for Netanyahu. Having to walk a fine line. All his enemies are free to do and say what they want but not him. I know if push comes to shove, he will protect his country regardless of what Dumbo does but still, having to be consistently humble and nice to people of this administration is sickening, especially when we know this administration has it out for him and Israel.
I wonder if retired Israeli Generals are generally as worthless as American retired Generals.
Flicking over channels and turned on CNN, WOW they have gone more left than MSNBC over this.
This is all about fairy boy who looks at Israel as a threat to the middle east and thinks Iran and Cuba are not bad places. He doe snot want Bibi here as Bibi will present evidence in a clear concise way which even some Dems will understand.
Yeah, it’s a very difficult situation for Netanyahu. If I were there, I would be voting for him!
Dear BiBi the fact you exist is considered disrespect by obama; ignore obama’s cowardly wimpish sensitivities, just say what you need to say; lay it all out there.
Meanwhile, U.N. ambassador Samantha Power addressed the same audience, telling them: The United States of America will not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon, Period. We all know what it means when the administration ends a promise with the word "Period."
I would say that Israel needs every one of those Generals, and everyone in the IDF in order to protect Israel. It’s a lot different than in the USA. Israel can’t afford to exclude ANYONE because they don’t have enough Jews there!
This guy depends upon civility in exchange for his abuse. Its time he was called out - loudly - for what he is.
When it comes to Jews, the only difference between obozo and Hitler is that obozo thinks Hitler lacked the ability to complete the task.
This is the most antisemitic POTUS ever. (but jimmah carter was #1 until this one, just like the mantle of “Worst POTUS Ever”)
I think you already KNOW that Netanyahu is not going to be demeaning or accusative towards Obama and his Administration ... while still “laying out his case” ... :-) ...
Obama depends upon his opponents being too concerned about sounding shrill, when the fact is people are ready for the unvarnished truth.
A little unfiltered honesty from high profile sources would obliterate Obama and his administration of leftist college punks.
Ahhh ... cool ... I was looking for that earlier. Thanks!
a very savvy and intelligent talk
If only we had a President like this
Carter is a complete disgrace to the South and Southerners
he should be labeled ‘ an honorary Yankee ‘
Netanyahu said “he was grateful to Mr. Obama and the United States...”
Say, what? OK, appreciation to the US, but Obama? What has he done for Netanyahu or Israel to be thankful for? Not a damned thing that wasn’t forced on him by history and/or his predecessors.
The trick is for BIBI to say it with a straight face..
>>Carter is a complete disgrace to the South and Southerners
he should be labeled an honorary Yankee <<
He should be labelled an honorary Marxist.
What makes you think us Northerners want anything to do with him?
