No Senate Democrats block measure backing Bibis speech
The Senate on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution welcoming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to America and endorsing his speech before a joint session of Congress.
Critics of the Obama administration view the unanimous approval as a rebuke to the White House and Democrats, who have vowed to boycott Netanyahus address and work to counter his warnings about the dangers of a nuclear Iran.
No Senate Democrats sponsored the measure, which attracted 50 Republican cosponsors. However, none attempted to block its passage, signaling that support for Israel and Netanyahus message has outweighed a pressure campaign by the Obama administration to sabotage the address.
The Senate warmly welcomes the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, on his visit to the United States, which provides a timely opportunity to reinforce the United State-Israel relationship, the resolution states.
Congress eagerly awaits the address of Prime Minister Netanyahu before a joint meeting of the United States Congress, it continues.
The lawmakers go on to reaffirm their commitment to stand with Israel during times of uncertainty and vow to strongly support Israels right to defend itself from threats to its very survival, according to the measure.
Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas), the chief sponsor of the resolution, said in a statement that the United States must be vocal about its support for the Jewish state as the Obama administration works toward a final deal with Iran that critics argue would permit it to retain the most controversial aspects of its nuclear infrastructure.
During this time of such great instability and danger in the Middle East, the United States should be unequivocal about our commitment to one of our closest and most important allies, Cornyn said. I hope all my colleagues will join me in welcoming Prime Minister Netanyahu to Washington so we can continue to work together to advance our common security interests.
“Eventually Obama is going to be humiliated like no one has been humiliated before.
Tyrants never have good endings.”
Justice. But in the meantime, lots of people suffer.
Ok but it’s still good and a thousand times better than the shift Obama’s been doin
One bright ray of light, amongst a sky full of dark clouds. It’s little victories like this that give me the strength to hold on.
That’s the tough part.
I hear you.
A nice old fashioned rebellion with a couple million armed and ready citizens surrounding the White House demanding his arrest for treason would be nice. And it would happen being that 99% of cops and the military hate the guys guts.
Good luck with that dream. Let me know how it turns out.
The country is dead, they just don’t know it yet.
Hussein Baraka is in a huge snit. And he can’t even play kill the Barbary pirates of Yemen with a doodlestick drone anymore, from his presidential orifice. Someone is going to feel the Imperial wrath.( Buahahahahahaha!)
Hurrah for Bibi! Hussein made a huge miostake opening up a sub rosa Obama Campaign office in Tel Aviv to campaign against Bibi, who can run circles around “The One.”
Yes they did. Just as John Cornyman had to introduce it.
FUJohnC. Hate to put JC.....know what I mean.....
John Cornyman is always up to no good because he is a no good potlickin’ politician.
Big POS from the Great State of Texas. We tried to get rid of his a$$
Do not fret...... Bibi is coming to kick Obama’s ass over and over and over.
He is not bound by our secrecy laws.
The messiah is going to be crucified

I am surprised.
He needs to ask Egyptian Pres. Sisi to speak to Congress!!

You’re exactly right on both points.
Things like that are what’s scaring the republicans. They KNOW Obama’s boys might go as far as to set off a nuke and say it happened because of the DHS shutdown.
don’t know about a nuke, but allowing or creating any kind of terror attack that may happen during a DHS shutdown would cause Middle America to witch hunt and burn any all Republicans who denied them their protection provided by the Fed Gov.
You want to see even conservative minded folks turn into raving foaming attacks dogs targeting those that had the gall to deny DHS funds - let an attack occur. You’ll see who the real patriots are and who the rest are that just want safety.
You’re right. And they’re too stupid to believe it might have been intentional or allowed to happen.
I’ve been on conservative gun owner websites filled with military, LE posters who would go stark raving mad because a poster stated “I don’t know if I want to give my 15 year old daughter the gardacil vaccine”.
OMG did the hate come out from supposed freedom fighters. “You have no right to infect everyone because you have paranoid fears of vaccine” was the gist.
Point is, most people will trade freedom for false comfort, even those on the right.
I keep seeing people post about CWII and watering the tree, etc. There aren’t near enough people to do anything to stop what’s happening. I’ve come to the conclusion that even if Ted Cruz called for an uprising he wouldn’t get more than Glenn Beck got at his “church service” on the mall.
Here come da’ flames!
