As I’ve read only the 62grain steel tipped (Green tip) ammo is under fire. Not the 55grain ball round.
I don’t like it but this being called the “End of the AR15” is unwarranted.
It may not be the "End" but it is the beginning of the end of the 2nd Amendment if allowed to progress. As I recall a few years back the SCOTUS opined that ammunition was indeed part of the protected material under the 2nd amendment. Anyone else remember that ruling?
Forgive me if I'm paranoid, but this is how they get a foot in the door. NEVER give libfux (I think I just made up a word) an inch because a mile is never enough.
Of course, but this is merely turning the heat up.
You just know the end goal will be all 5.56 / .223 ammunition is to be declared "Military ammo" and banned as "unnecessary for the hunter".
Then "sniper" rifle ammo in .308.
These are just small steps and as long as they all head in the "right" direction (total disarmament) they're happy to bide their time.

A previous post about an article from the NRA reported the executive order would seek to ban most center fire ammunition. The rim-fire ammunition would be affected by other executive actions.

Your Action Urgently Needed to Prevent BATFE from Banning Common Rifle Ammunition!

While the most visible and immediate effect of the framework is BATFE’s revocation of the “sporting purposes” exemption for M855 ammunition, its long-term consequences could be even more severe. Once an “AP” projectile designed and intended by the manufacturer to be used in a rifle (for hunting, for example) “may be” shot from any commercially available multi-shot handgun, it could never be exempt under the framework (unless loaded in a .22 caliber rimfire cartridge). Basically, this means the virtual banning of non-lead centerfire rifle bullets, even as gun control activists and states are targeting lead bullets for separate bans. This collision of bans on both lead and non-lead bullets could eventually lead to a drastic reduction in lawfully-available ammunition offerings.

You have not been paying attention to California, which is where they often try new stuff out. CA has a partial and probably soon to be total ban on lead cored bullets on an environmental basis. The plan appears to be:
1. Ban steel-core ammo as ‘armor piercing.’
2. Ban lead core ammo as ‘an environmental pollitant.’
3. ‘You can have your AR-15s, but it will bankrupt you to shoot them’ because the only option left is bismuth and that’s expensive.

True.
But right NOW, it’s 62 grain.
Next, it’ll be 55 grain.
Then the 77gr if you can find it.
Then it’ll be 7.62 NATO, the 7.62x63 (.30-06), and so on and so on.
He has a little less than two years to do as much damage as he can. And he means to do it.
This is going after M855 which has a mild steel core and can penetrate an aluminum soft drink can at 1000 inches.
Oddly enough, prices on-line seem to be holding steady. Shelves are full in local stores.

You really think that the Obama minions will stop at just banning this particular ammo? Seriously? You haven’t been paying attention, if so.
