FREEP THIS PETITION: Say 'NO!' to the FCC Internet Takeover

On February 4, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Tom Wheeler proposed that the federal government reclassify the Internet
from an information service to a telecommunications service in the name of keeping it 'fair' --a plan that came straight from Barack Obama's desk.
Of course, this is nothing more than a pass for Big Government to expand its regulatory power at the expense of digital freedom.
Like all innovation, the Internet wasnt created by government
and government certainly has no power to control it.
Nowhere in the Constitution is there a provision providing the federal government with power to regulate the free-flow of information.
In fact, such an idea flies in the face of the First Amendment.
ConstitutionAlly is calling every American to sign our petition and message the FCC, prior to their February 26 vote on Obama's plan.
Take Action: Say NO! to the OBAMA-FCC Internet takeover.

Go sign the Petition:
Tell the FCC to stay away from the internet
by Glenn Monday, Feb 16, 2015 at 9:36 PM EST
This is critical! Your voice must be heard now in the loudest of voices.
The FCC is doing a power grab of the internet.
There are only a few days left to voice your opposition.
If you want a Department of the Internet and you think that will make independent voices stronger, stay silent.
Otherwise TELL CONGRESS AND THE FCC HANDS OFF THE INTERNET.

We shall have to go to the “dark” side of the Internet.
Perhaps humans can evolve to have a telepathic capability?

I don’t care if you have a poll saying %99.9999 percent of the
people are against it they are going to do something. Whether
it be imposed by FCC regulation or the Obamas executive pen
they are going to hijack the internet just like they did the
medical industry. An quite possibly with the help of some of
the republicans.

I am thoroughly confused. Here is some material I ran across which I think addresses this issue. It seems from this that the issue is whether or not to allow cities to provide fast, affordable broad band service to their residents. Would this eliminate the possibility of choosing a commercial provider, or offer the possibility of cheaper fast public service?
“ALEC, a right-wing think tank that crafts state legislation, is pressuring state legislatures around the country to ban cities from offering broadband Internet access. Nearly 20 states already have laws on the books stopping cities from providing fast, publicly-owned Internet access and other states could soon follow suit.
President Obama just urged the FCC to make it illegal for states to block cities from providing affordable and fast Internet accessand the FCC is expected to make a decision very soon.
Many perennial funders and members of ALEC, including AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner, stand to gain financially from these state laws because they eliminate the possibility of competition from city-run broadband services.
The FCC is expected to make a decision on President Obamas proposal to protect municipal broadband on February 26. Before then, lets make sure Chairman Wheeler and the other commissioners know that Americans want more access to fast and affordable Internet service, not less.”

CONFUSION is one tool "the Left" loves to use.
Have you EVER been able to TRUST Obama?
I think NOT !
Call you congressman, and also call his local office, and tell them to VOTE NO!

Part of my confusion is understanding whether this issue described at this thread is the same one as the issue of states preventing cities from having their own broadband service. Is this one issue or two different ones? If they are the same, why wouldn’t FReepers want the cities to be free of their state preventing them from providing service? I thought more local control was one of our issues.
To: gleeaikin
This issue is about taxes and "Big Brother".
The ILLEGAL ALIEN IN CHIEF is wanting control of the Internet to "Fix a Problem" that doesn't exist.
You may trust that EVIL, VILE man, but I don't.
He's going to do the exact opposite of what he says he's going to do.
