Jihadist militants from Islamic State (IS) have burned to death 45 people in the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi, the local police chief says.

Ain al-Asad air base, where about 320 US Marines are training members of the Iraqi army's 7th Division, is only 8km (5 miles) away.

Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm John Kirby told reporters on Friday that al-Baghdadi’s capture needed to be put in perspective.

He said it was the first time in the last couple of months that the jihadist group had taken new ground.

Grrrrr...

The ONLY ground these vermin should be taking is what’s needed to bury their corpses with pig entrails.

No worries. The Obama Administration will describe the event as random.

They are clearly stepping up the barbarity in the hopes of goading Odumbo into a reaction. I am suspicious that they have some sort of a surprise waiting for our ground troops - captured Syrian chemical weapons maybe? I hope that’s not what’s happening, but so far these guys have been several steps ahead of Obama.

There's 5 miles between that town and our base. Once they get out in the open I'm thinking Fuel Air Explosives. There would no need for ground troops then.

I’m wondering what we would hope to accomplish with ground troops? Seems totally pointless to me.

If it is war, you destroy every thing and person that can pose a threat until there is no more threat and/or a credible surrender is offered by the enemy.

No nation building, no democracy, no partnerships, just “sucks to be you, now figure out why”.

At the same time at home, Islam is declared a terrorist organization and not a religion, but a totalitarian world view that is incompatible with freedom and democracy. As such, there is no room in the west for such persons that hold to it. Muslims are then deported to the Islamic country of their choice. Fighting will then ensue at home, and we have done with them, or die trying.

I don’t see anything less as leading to a hopeful future. It’s unfortunate, but there it is.

Will anything cause us to defend ourselves? Self defense against violent aggression is good and righteous.

From the link...

Exactly who these people were and why they were killed is not clear, but Col Qasim al-Obeidi said he believed some were members of the security forces.

IS fighters captured much of the town, near Ain al-Asad air base, last week.

Col Obeidi said a compound that houses the families of security personnel and local officials was now under attack.

He pleaded for help from the government and the international community.

Actually, I think they’re doing it to show how powerless and timid we are. Or Obama is, at any rate. Or perhaps even how he sympathizes with them.

They know there’s going to be no reaction, no matter what they do. At the same time, it is terrorizing the local people, showing them that they have no support from us, and making sure that they realize that the only power there belongs to ISIS.

They definitely are. But that assumes that Obama wants to stop them in the first place, and I’m not entirely sure that he does.

I can’t imagine what his game is, but I really think that deep down inside, he sees himself as the emerging global Muslim leader.

I’m not entirely sure that he does.

At this point it seems obvious that he absolutely doesn't want to stop them. It is almost bordering on support. He makes no mention of Jews or Christians be slaughtered. And he treats the Islamic State as some JV team that has occasional random acts of violence. Obama is anti-Christian. You just have to go to his Rev. Wright's Church to understand that. Obama is anti-Jewish. You just have to look at how he treats Israel and the people he hangs out with. On the other hand, Obama proactively makes every attempt to sell Islam as a religion of peace.
