Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker believes Mitt Romney is a "good man and would have been a good president," but now that the former Massachusetts governor has officially backed out of the 2016 race, Walker would like his support among the list of possible Republican presidential hopefuls.
"I would love to have his endorsement," Walker told Fox News Channel's Bret Baier during a segment that aired Friday of an interview that will be running as part of a series surrounding potential 2016 candidates.
At the same time, Walker said that he thinks it is "a time for new fresh ideas," and he appreciates "the fact in his comments that he pointed out it is time to maybe pass the torch and look for new leadership."
Walker, who took a call from Romney while he was being interviewed by Baier, said that there is no doubt that Romney's decision not to mount a third try at the presidency changes the Republican landscape....

Sarah Palin won six elections before 2008 and was the most popular governor in polling history and look what they were able to do to her by 2009, even though you’d think she posed no more danger to them. And she has a bachelors degree!
Just AMAZING how many “Oh no, you conservatives! You’d better be VERY CONCERNED about Scott Walker!” articles are popping up lately, and how many FReepers are buying the efforts of the “concern trolls.”
That argument and campaign theme didn’t work too well against W. Bush, he went 2 terms
Really not that many — IIRC, what really put him "over the top" demographic-wise was the young adult demographic.
And, I think that may have actually been a good thing — he's shown a lot of people that Democrats are statists and not about freedom/liberty/etc.
even though McCain was not exactly Barry Goldwater or because Palin didnt have enough experience? [snort] Now, just imagine whatll happen when Hillary or Lieawatha nab the nomination.
Actually, I've been of the opinion that the Obama/McCain choice was engineered to weaken the Natural Born Citizen requirement for some years now, as both have questionable qualifications thereunder: McCain in his Panama birth, Obama in his birthplace and parents. (Romney, too, has some issues due to his father's birthplace of Mexico; but I think he was pushed into the position more for being essentially identical in policy to Obama — making it a sure thing that the `08-`12 statist trends in government would continue to `16.)
Cruz is being pushed a lot, and while I like him I don't think he qualifies as NBC (his father was not a citizen and he was born in Canada).
I can't help but think that this is being pushed to establish precedence, which is in-effect of more import/authority than the Constitution — just look at Scalia's defense of the War on Drugs. (The exact case escapes me at the moment, I want to say Kentucky v. King, but while that one certainly is applicable I think there's another one where he basically says we've been doing this so long that if we were to find the Constitution meant the plain thing it says we'd have to throw out huge portions of our police policies, so it has to be ok.
)
Remember that our elites are statists, they hate the constraints of the Constitution, they are also for Open Borders.
You uncovered my secret. I signed on here in 2006 to derail Scott Walker’s 2016 hopes, even though back then he was a Milwaukee County executive and neither you or I had ever heard of him! It’s like I’m Boris Badenov, Edgar Cayce and Nostradamus all rolled into one.
Sheesh! I wasn’t referring to you, 2nd!
I was referring to this article, and the one that appeared earlier:

A lot of writers out there are attempting to make conservatives VERY WARY of Walker! Look! He likes Romney! Look! His campaign employed a liberal! ... Always indicates they’re scared bigtime ... Sorry if I didn’t make that clear.
Hey, we conservatives have principles, doncha know? We rather go down in defeat than make even slight compromises. Only problem is our defeated candidate has Zero, Zilch, Nada, shunya, power to change any laws or move any conservative agenda.
How many laws have Santorum, Gingrich, Hunter or Thompson have signed from the White House? Zero, Zilch, Nada, shunya!
Hatred and conceit are still calling the shots in some souls. As long as it does, we will have Democrats in the White House.
Scott Walker is quite delusional.. and Walker would be (and is) weak..
Whats needed is well beyond Walkers grasp..
TED Cruz might have the BALLS to do something...... Maybe..
Santorum? He couldn’t even keep his senate seat!
Make me a promise, will you? NO MORE BIRTHER NONSENSE!! That ship has sailed! No more! Stop! If Barack Hussein Muhammad Obama, Junior can be president, even though he admitted for YEARS that he was born in Kenya, it’s over, okay? Senator Cruz’s mother was as American as apple pie and she was old enough to confer citizenship on Ted even had he been born on a Moon base, okay? It’s over! Every lawyer that his camp has contacted says he’s fine.
My condolences.
Exactly. He’s a fake conservative not only like Ryan, but like Priebus, too. His pro-amnesty/open borders position would assure he’d be last even fake conservative voted to be elected to national office.
You did’nt get my point.
Again, my point is that Santorum & his supporters kept bashing Newt. And the Newt and his supporters kept bashing Santorum.
Result was it made it easier for the lone RINO Mitt.
I see the same thing is happening again. Cruz supporters are bashing Walker. And Walker supporters are bashing Cruz.
This is going to clear the path for the Jebster.
The exact same thing happened in 2008. No uniting behind one conservative candidate. Did you observe how Mitt dropped out in time to clear path for lone RINO McCain? The RINO’s show better unity than do conservatives.
Point is Santorum was MORE conservative than Mitt. There is not even a question about that.
So bashing Santorum, got us Mitt.
And Newt supporters did the same thing to Santorum.
The point in 2016 is the same. Walker is more conservative than Jeb. By attacking either Walker or Cruz, you are making it easier for Jeb to win.
Kiss of death!
The above is from four years earlier. What makes you think Santorum wasn't a spoiler?
