Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker believes Mitt Romney is a "good man and would have been a good president," but now that the former Massachusetts governor has officially backed out of the 2016 race, Walker would like his support among the list of possible Republican presidential hopefuls.

"I would love to have his endorsement," Walker told Fox News Channel's Bret Baier during a segment that aired Friday of an interview that will be running as part of a series surrounding potential 2016 candidates.

At the same time, Walker said that he thinks it is "a time for new fresh ideas," and he appreciates "the fact in his comments that he pointed out it is time to maybe pass the torch and look for new leadership."

Walker, who took a call from Romney while he was being interviewed by Baier, said that there is no doubt that Romney's decision not to mount a third try at the presidency changes the Republican landscape....

I don’t think many of us claim to be republicans anymore, after all the republican knives we’re having to pull out of our backs on a near-daily basis.

If you think near-daily is bad, just wait until it's at night.

Romney, even with his faults (and they are many) is far better than Jeb Bush or Chris Christie.

What third party? There isn’t even a second party.

I am telling you, and EVERYONE here, Scott Walker is the fake conservative of 2016-He’s the Paul Ryan of this cycle, a person that non discriminating ‘conservatives’ will swoon over, but his record and rhetoric aren’t really all that conservative.

Satan rules this world, and even the Republican Party. That’s why Scott Walker will get it, because most people are easily swayed like SHEEP, and lied to especially in 2015.

If Walker is seeking Romney’s endorsement, I think it’s safe to say we can move him out of the conservative column into the RINO one.

For POTUS, anyway. I think he’s great for WI, though!

Santorum was not a conservative on any issue except some social issues. He didn’t mind using the government to rob others through taxes to pay for his favorite pet projects. A failing of many Christians who call themselves “conservative” but are in actuality socialists that just want the “free” money redistributed to their causes instead.

Not picking on Santorum. You can lump Hucksterbee into the same category. The former governor never met a sin tax he didn’t like.

This isn’t just an issue. It’s a deal killer for those who understand the difference between conservatism and socialism.

I hope that everyone who claims to be a Republican supports the eventual nominee for President. I don’t want any 3rd party BS to help elect a Democrat.

I hope that everyone reads your wise words, my FRiend.

There is no perfect candidate.

If we want to keep our Constitution and our fine country intact (or what's left of them in 2016), we'd better unify after the Convention.

Arguing, campaigning it's all fine for the primary.

After that, we have much too much to lose by trying to settle and internecine score.

I’d rather have a night out with Ann?

I disagree. Romney is just as bad, if not worse than those two.

Thank you for shooting a conservative in the back. Someone will be around shortly to shoot your favorite conservative in the back and we can all watch Jeb lose later on.

Any other circular firing squad shooters? Line (or circle) forms to the left (or right, what difference does it make?)

BTW I am not a Walker supporter. Haven’t even decided yet. But thanks for killing a conservative early on. Appreciate it. Jeb thanks you too.

Should clarify, I don’t want Jeb. I think Walker or Cruz would be good choices. I’d prefer we not riddle them both with bullets so that it ends up going to Jeb.

“Scott Walker is the fake conservative of 2016-He’s the Paul Ryan of this cycle”

*****

Bingo. The deck is being stacked with out-of-the-closet leftists like Christie and Bush. We’re supposed to rebel by accepting a milque toast faux conservative like Walker or a populist like Governor Good Hair Perry instead of a Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin (although I doubt she’s running), etc.

If Cruz or the equivalent gets the nomination, the establishment will rally around the Dem nominee (Hillary or Warren) to ensure the conservative doesn’t win in the general election.

If this man is clamoring for Milt’s endorsement this early on, do you really think he’s the “new, young Reagan” that all his newly-minted, bandwagon-hopping supporters claim he is? What part of the base will vote for him in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina based on a Romney endorsement?

Would Walker at least be acceptable? (I haven’t decided yet but you’re there and you probably have an opinion).

No, but maybe we don’t go for the torches and pitch forks quite yet? Like I said, we’ll end up tearing down all the potentially good candidates like we did during 2007 and 2011 and ending up with - yecch!

A conservative candidate could unite the party, i.e. if it really wants to finally reject liberalism once and for all after its overly-long practice of same. It’s the putting forth of RINOs that engenders the occurrence of “kneecapping”.

Walker is in the “Sweet Spot”. It is where you need to be to win elections. He can get the Tea Party, and is not someone who the establishment can back-stab without major repercussions.

Ted Cruz-YES, Scott Walker-No, he’s not a conservative socially (doesn’t want to fight for marriage), and fiscally (doesn’t want to fight for Right to Work legislation), and he’s chummy with the GOP-E.
