Krauthammer 'Stunned' By Obama's 'Banal & Offensive' Prayer Breakfast Remarks

Charles Krauthammer tonight slammed President Barack Obama’s remarks today at the National Prayer Breakfast, where Obama compared ISIS attacks to the violence committed by Christians in the Crusades.

“Humanity has been grappling with these questions throughout human history. Unless we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ. In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ," Obama said.

Well, as much as people on FR hate Charles Krauthammer (and I don’t know why, except perhaps that he didn’t support one of their favorite dismal candidates in the last election), he’s absolutely right, totally aware, and has said this same thing as many times as he can get away with it in his nationally published columns.

We’re actually not going to get to go to the camps. They’ll simply kill us where they find us.

Obama is busy putting the Muslims in charge of this country.

Adding insult to injury is the fabricated accent Obama employs at the Prayer Breakfast. He tries to sound like someone who has spent the last 40 years in a turnip patch.

President Obama's response was to go to the National Prayer Breakfast and condescendingly advise us - as if it's some dazzlingly original observation rather than the lamest faculty-lounge relativist bromide - to "remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ".

Aaand it, I think, will redouble [pause] the vigilance aaand determination on the part of our global coalition to, uh, make sure that they are degraded and ultimately defeated. Ummmm. [Adopting a whimsical look] It also just indicates the degree to which whatever ideology they're operating off of, it's bankrupt. It was just one more opportunity for obama to insult Christians, nothing more, nothing less.

One more thought - it is also entirely possible these banal and insulting remarks are designed to instigate a hoped-for violent reaction, so as to put into motion that which Obama has already prepared.

Expect an increasing amount of such rhetoric in the near future from Obama.

but I think the main effort is in riling up the “urban” base to attack white/conservatives to the point they fight back,

This was the most offensive presentation Obama has given since he entered the national stage in 2007.

I agree completely. And despite what I've been saying about him for eight long years now I'll admit to being a bit stunned myself. Of all of things he could have said that one strikes me as appallingly insensitive, historically uninformed, wildly irrelevant, and deliberately and blatantly offensive. "Yeah, they just burned a prisoner alive in gasoline, but we have to remember that half a millennium ago Christians did some bad things too" is the resort of a ham-handed fool completely devoid of any rational moral sense. In short, I knew he was bad and expected very little and still he amazed me.
