Christian Bakers Face Government Wrath For Refusing To Make Cake For Gay Wedding
By Todd Starnes
February 03, 2015 Aaron and Melissa Klein refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay couple, and now they must pay for their crime. An Oregon administrative law judge ruled on Jan. 29 that the owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa did, in fact, discriminate in 2013 when they declined to provide a wedding cake for a lesbian couple because it would have violated their Christian beliefs against same-sex marriage. The judges ruling paves the way for a March 10 hearing at which the Christian business owners could be ordered to pay $200,000 in fines and damages. You cannot discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, Paul Thompson, the attorney representing the lesbian couple, told The Oregonian. The entire time, I felt the law was very much on our side because the law is black and white. You can read the judges 52-page order here. Last year, investigators concluded the bakers had violated the couples rights to equal treatment in places that serve the public. State law bans discrimination against LGBT people in places that serve the public and that includes bakeries.

...we can no longer reserve the right to refuse service?
Since Americans have a right to guns, are gun shops required to sell firearms to anyone?
Since Alcoholism is now a disability, are bars and liquor stores required to serve drunks?
The Constitution says “no law” shall dictate religion OR PROHIBIT THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF.
According to this legislative stupidity, a drunken homosexual cannot be refused service in a bar. Even if he/she goes out and kills someone with a car.
Welcome to Acirema, where the guilty are rewarded and the innocent are punished.
Good points. I wonder if it would be considered legal to force a gay baker (or any baker) to make a cake with anti-gay slogans? That is what people should be doing - fighting fire with fire. For a group (lgbt) that seems so concerned with being able to make choices in their lifestyle, they have no concern for others choices.
RE Sad Ending:
Maybe not so much. Depends on what you consider losing versus winning.
Financially, they lost, sure.
But they STILL didn’t bake the cake, and no one can physically force them to. So, from their Faith standpoint, they won that battle.
Life is full of choices; choices have consequences. You either CHOOSE to “obey”, and do - or you choose not to and don’t.
The only question at the end of the day is what are you WILLING to suffer for the choices you make? And what are you willing to do to defend what you say you believe in?
You can apply that to just about anything.
Haven't you read Matt 5? or Colossians 3:23-24? or 1 Corinthians 10:31?
Ah, yes… because there's no fascism at the federal level.
I never lose sight of the fact that it is impossible to have rational discourse with such people. I looked it up, and there are hundreds of bakeries in the Denver area where this other case occurred. The Christians are being targeted wherever they do business. This is a purposeful action to do to the Private Sector what our fearless leader is doing throughout the Govt. Sector.
Couldnt the bakery have asked $1000 for a cake, and/or told the sinful couple theyre going to donate the fee to an anti-homosexual group?<<<<<<<<<<<
They could have, but the couple would still say they were discriminated against because the fee was higher. I don’t think there is a way for the bakeries to remain independent in their choice of refusal of service.

They could have, but the couple would still say they were discriminated against because the fee was higher, and I think the objective is lawsuit proceeds. I don’t think there is a way for the bakeries to remain independent in their choice of refusal of service. Unless the law can be changed, and good luck with that!
but gays and Muslim bakers can refuse cakes with bible verses on them?

Why doesn’t a conservative organization back someone to test that one?
Won’t matter. The msm controls the narrative.
If they lose their store to the state its wont seem like much of a victory.
I recall Rand Paul on Maddow 2011 trying to make the case that the government has no business telling businesses who they must serve, he got such a beating on it that he repudiated and denied what he said on camera that was recorded.
In this case I don't even see it leading to a change in the law.
RE:”The only question at the end of the day is what are you WILLING to suffer for the choices you make? And what are you willing to do to defend what you say you believe in?”
Please bro, have you given up your livelihood and everything you own, maybe even your own life over your guns? Maybe insisting on walking around NYC sidewalks with a visible loaded gun to prove your point?(That might do it)
Of course not. I think these folks should decide to survive to fight another day on better ground, just like we do.
So to be consistent a black Muslim or Jewish baker must bake a cake or make a sign for a KKK anniversary, or a homosexual baker must do so for Westboro Baptist celebration of the death of sodomites, or a Patriotic veteran must do so for a Communist Party celebration.
Do judges ever think of such?
