Japanese PM: We Will Never Forgive Terrorists

A visibly upset Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has vowed to "never forgive terrorists" after the Islamic State (ISIS) released a video purportedly showing the beheading of Japanese hostage Kenji Goto.

"I am extremely angry about these heinous and despicable terrorist acts. We will never forgive terrorists," Abe told reporters in Tokyo on Sunday morning (local time), according to the AFP news agency.

"We will cooperate with the international community to make them atone for their crimes," he declared.

The ISIS claim was made in a video released online that included no mention of a Jordanian pilot also being held by the group and whom they have also threatened to kill.

In the video, Goto, a journalist, is seen kneeling next to a standing masked man who speaks with a British accent and blames the Japanese government for his "slaughter".

"I am at a loss for words thinking about the pain that (Goto's) family must feel," Abe said.

On Saturday, Japanese media quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Yasuhide Nakayama as saying that negotiations with the group were "deadlocked".

"The government has been working with the utmost efforts on the issue -- I'm deeply regret that this is the result," Abe said.

If I was the Japanese PM, I would announce that the $200 million that ISIS demanded would be available to anyone who brought the heads of Jihad John and 19 other ISIS bigwigs (list of names / photos) to the Japanese embassy in Baghdad, in a sack. Subject to DNA verification but no questions asked.

That should liven up the party a little bit.

Japan’s constitution doesn’t allow for doing much more than tsk tsk at them. Plays into the PM’s plan to change that.

It doesn't and maybe because the Japs are very familiar thru their own history & actions with the concept of The Kamikaze.

I wonder if half the problems with relationships the Japanese have is because they have no military that does anything. I wonder though, what it would be like of the Japanese were to be able to restructure their constitution to have a solid military that would respond to acts of terrorism.

Give "pieces" a chance.

Kidnap ISIS scum and their family members and send them to ISIS one piece at a time.

Soviets Offer 'How-to' Lesson 1986 and Muslims had kidnapped four Soviets

the KGB castrated a relative of a prominent Muslim leader and sent the severed organs to the Muslim, with advice that they knew of his other relatives. The remaining three Soviets were freed immediately.

Give piece a chance. Seriously.

I dunno.

The Japanese could somehow have soldiers via hiring Japanese citizens, paying them, having them under uniform, but still not be classified as an official military. I believe it would circumvent the restrictions while at the same time, enabling the Japanese to retaliate in full.

I should suggest this to someone.
