Ive been emailed this text of remarks Mitt Romney will be making to his supporters shortly:
Let me begin by letting you know who else is on this call, besides Ann and me. There are a large number of people who signed on to be leaders of our 2016 finance effort. In addition, state political leadership from several of the early primary states are on the line. And here in New York City, and on the phone, are people who have been helping me think through how to build a new team, as well as supporters from the past who have all been kind enough to volunteer their time during this deliberation stage. Welcome, and thank you. Your loyalty and friendship, and your desire to see the country with new, competent and conservative leadership warms my heart.
After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, Ive decided it is best to give other leaders in the Party the opportunity to become our next nominee.

Cruz is an outstanding, reliable Conservative serving the citizens of Texas and the country as a US Senator. He’s doing great right where he’s at.
Too bad he fails to qualify for the ‘0bama Magic Negro exemption’ to the “NATURAL BORN CITIZEN” requirement in the Constitution of the USA.
Do more research. The media is just salivating to crucify him in a POTUS campaign.
You're defending the indefensible, as is Scott Walker.
Our nation has been overwhelmed with immigrants (both legal and illegal) for so long, that the very fabric of our culture has started to unravel. We need a twenty-five year moratorium on ALL immigration to allow those who are here already time to completely assimilate.
Do you realize that one in seven people in this country is foreign born? Or, how about the fact that over 90,000,000 able-bodied Americans are out of work and can't find a job? Or that roughly half the people in this country are on some sort of government assistance?
These are all problems of serious magnitude, and they're all being exacerbated by the steady and unrelenting influx of foreign people to this country. Due to the torrential rate of inflow, we aren't absorbing them - they're absorbing us.
I don't accept the premise of Scott Walker's position on immigration. Finding ways to better manage the rapid dissolution of our country isn't what I want from a prospective President. I want him to find ways to stop it entirely.
Our nation was born from immigrants.
Sure it was, but the immigrants we're descended from took note of the motto, "E Pluribus Unum", and strove to become Americans.
Fewer and fewer new arrivals to America even know or understand the meaning of that phrase, nor do they care to. All they're interested in, are the benefits of living here, and a goodly portion of them have NO interest in assimilating with us.
It doesn't help that liberal 'multi-culturalism' and government policies actually encourage them to remain separate and differentiated from native born Americans and our amazing culture.
These aren't our grandparents' immigrants.
So which RINO is going to be the next fall guy?
So let’s allow in immigrants that WANT to be American. And not those that want to bring their 3rd world values here.
Sounds like a plan.
We should get right on that, just as soon as we seal the southern border, finish deporting the 30+ million who are already here illegally, assimilate the millions of legal immigrants, and get the real unemployment number under 5%.
Until then, we need to shut the gate until such time as it's in America's interest to import new citizens.
Conservatives may not be smart enough to avoid losing to even one liberal like the Texan Jebbie.
In a Cruz-Jebbie primary in TX if it could be one-on-one, I I think Jebbie gets 60 percent.
What if we just stop giving them “stuff”. They might not love it here as much and would volunteer to go back home.
They’ve been bribed to come here by our own government.
Turning off the goodies spigot is a large part of the solution. Illegals can't subsist on the kind of money they make in the underground economy without government subsidies like Section 8, food stamps, free medical care, welfare payments, etc.
If we could only do THAT, I think the vast majority of them would soon drift back across the border.
I sure wish someone would have the.....guts.....to do just that!
We are killing ourselves [economically and security-wise] by pandering to criminals!
It's going to take more than just one person with guts to end the treason at the top.
I love Ted Cruz, and know in my heart that he'd do everything in his power to see to it that our immigration laws were faithfully enforced, if he were President. But I also know that the PTB would use every lever of influence and manipulation they have, to thwart his efforts, and to keep the river of illegal humans flowing northward.
It's going to take a wholesale house cleaning in Washington before we see the whole fedgov get on the same page with enforcing our laws. That's a mighty tall work order for we citizens to confront. No one but us is going to see it done.
You are exactly right! I meant one entity...not one person. I just stated it wrong!
We have got to use our power at the ballot box to see that people are put into place who have OUR best interests at heart, not people who are hear as criminals. I don’t care how they spin it, illegal=criminal!
Yes we do, and the first ones we have to oust, are those in leadership positions in Congress - starting with the Obama enablers, Boehner and McConnell. Even if we can't vote them out of their seats right away, we can vote in more TEApublicans who can bring pressure to bear against them.
Something's got to give. The weasels in the GOP-e just vetoed the will of the people by passing the 'Cromnibus' bill, and they'll keep right on giving Obama everything he wants if they're not stopped. We've got to stay strong, and keep voting in good people to take them down.
I’m pretty sure the Republican primary voters in 2016 will continue to do the same ol’, same ol’, and that means a third Bush who will lose to HRC.
Deep down, a Romney likes the idea of a Democrat victory.
You’d be surprised how many Republican primary voters are so uninformed that they think any Bush is “conservative”.
Defeat is likely again, I fear.
MITT QUIT!
