Forget the post-PC era. The Mac just continues to get bigger. For its fiscal 2015 first quarter that ended Dec. 27, 2014, Apple sold 5.5 million Macs. Thats up 9% year-over-year and up 14% from the previous quarter and brought in revenue of US$6.9 billion.
Apple has gained market share verses Windows PCs in all quarters since 2005 but one. The Mac has surpassed overall PC growth for 34 of the last 35 quarters.The Macs unit share of the worldwide PC market has grown from 2.1% in 2005 to 5.5% in 2013. Apples U.S. market share is somewhere between 10% and 14%, depending on whose statistics you believe.

In colloquial usage, a “PC” was always understood to be a different desktop computer than a “Macintosh”. It’s an OLD USAGE, so you may not be familiar with it.

When my grandaughter was entering high school 5 years ago she wanted a Mac and nothing else.
She earned 1/2 and her parents paid the other half.

People who still use PC’s probably also have a couple of British cars, so they have at least one that’s working when they need to go somewhere.

I think it’s the fact that sooooo many people have iPhones now. They see the interface and want it for their home/office computer as well. Familiarity breeds comfort.
I use a Mac for my work, it’s amazing how many Macs there are now in the workplace compared with just a few years ago.
I can’t use a Mac. I’m a heterosexual.

Not sure if they have made any inroads into the enterprise business world, but they have among the small mom and pop types of business.
