I suspect that Windows 8 had a lot to do with Apple’s market share increase

It’s actually been increasing for quite a few years and long before Windows 8.

That was a ‘new coke’ moment for Microsoft. And now the its main proponent owns the Clippers.

I think it’s the fact that sooooo many people have iPhones now. They see the interface and want it for their home/office computer as well. Familiarity breeds comfort.

Yeah, I don't particularly care for Macs (used them for years as an educator) but Microsoft better figure out WTH they're doing with these unending Windows flops.

I just got a new desktop last year with Windows 7. It's OK but nothing special. When this one rolls over, I'll go Mac on the next one if the current version (Win 16 or 17, where ever they are at that time) is still messed up.

IMO, bring back XP or even 98.

“I suspect that Windows 8 had a lot to do with Apple’s market share increase”

It is probably interrelated.

I read that the Microsoft Surface software will NOT be updatable to Windows 10, as well.

That device was their supposed entry into the hardware market, for touch tablets, ie. direct competitors with iPads.

I would liken Microsoft today, with GM a few years ago. Try as they might, they can’t do very much differently or better. They resort continually to putting new faces on old products with some changes.

A longtime friend of mine is a computer consultant, and he said Windows 8 when it came out, was lousy for desktop mouse users.

I recently got a 8.1 touchscreen device, and I find the interface to be cluncky compared to what Android shows is possible.

My friend has since changed over entirely to Apple for his own devices, after decades with Windows.

I suspect Windows Vista, Windows 8, and just Microsoft's general tone deafness have had a lot to do with Apple's market share increase

Did in my household. We bought three Mac laptops in the past 5 months. I never owned a Mac in my life up till now.

Microsoft screwed the pooch with 8.0/8.1. I use computers mostly for work and don't have time for a learning curve to figure out the three steps it takes to accomplish what I used to do in one. Hell, I'm still learning all the extra bull sh!t steps in Office 2010!
