The $US90 trillion cities proposal came from former vice president Al Gore and former president of Mexico Felipe Calderon, and their colleagues on the The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. That group hopes to persuade the worlds leaders to do something about humanitys suicidal effort to heat the Earths climate.
Part of fighting climate change will mean redesigning, or building anew, towns and cities without cars, Calderon says.

"...????..the dogs chasing me will be able to dodge the bikes...oh man"
The left hates the mobility of the non elite and considers it dangerous and inconvenient. It is harder to control people who can just go somewhere without getting permission and filing precise plans. The government tracking of all vehicular movement by license tag tracking will accomplish some of that.
The Gross World Product (GWP) last reported was $87.25 trillion. It is sometimes said that when mental illness progresses, it takes on some fixation, some mania that rules above all else. To demand an effort greater than the entire gross output of the planet to eliminate combustion engine vehicles, I’d say that reached the level of certifiably clinically insane. They’re in good company with Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona....
That same sentiment seems to be pretty common among the train worshipers and to some extent the electric car pimps.
GRRRREAT comments BUMP!
This is part of UN agenda 21 to imprison the whole planet
“humanitys suicidal effort to heat the Earths climate.”
our EFFORT? suicidal effort....to heat the Earths climate.
super wealth ..even more powerful than alcohol and marijhuana??
When I was a teen and finally had my drivers license and bought my first car, it was one of the most exciting days of my life...it meant freedom!
Al Gore and Felipe can stuff it.
Years ago there was a cheesy movie named “The Last Chase” starring Lee (Million Dollar Man) Majors. It presented a dystopian view of a future society where all cars are banned (but curiously there are golf carts everywhere). I remember people saying it could never happen.
When it comes to totalitarian leftists I say “never say never”.
I can only assume from this article that Filipe is as batshit looney as Gore.
The cost of owning and driving a car is already high enough that many young people don’t drive. My 25 year old nephew doesn’t have a license because he doesn’t want the cost or hassle of driving.
That’s an alien concept to me.
Private jets however are okay.
If al gore ran again most UAW members would still vote for him.

Redesigning cities like this will cause a population collapse of about 90%. China has already started down this road. It built massive dense cities and then when it loosened its one child policy, most continue to have one child because they have no space.
Yup. Population centers, wildlife corridors, earth islands, public transit, CCTV monitoring of everyones(with exception of ‘special’ folks)activities, 500 sq/ft residences, heating, cooling, nutrition allotments. Kind of like the 12 districts in the Hunger Games. Reminds me of that Louis Armstrong song, “It’s A Wonderful World”.
And that is why the Agenda 21ers and left wing one worlders are agin' it! Freedom is not on their agenda, at least not for the plebeians and serfs.
Old Al is so far in bed with this AGW cult that he’s got to double-down on everything. Here’s praying for an ice age so that Manbearpig can go bankrupt in record time.
