Jewish Emigration from France to Israel 1994-Present
Some say the bad European economy, high French taxes and the inviting business atmosphere of Israel are behind the veritable exodus of French Jews from their country to Abraham’s promised land.
But it’s hard to discount Jew-hatred and the threat of violence reminiscent of 1930s Germany, as radical Islam burns with rage and is not quenched.
The surge of French Jews emigrating to Israel is unprecedented in the post-World War II era. Last year, for the first time, France exceeded the United States for Jews making aliyah — the Hebrew term for “going up” to Israel, a core element of the Zionist movement.
Pretending economic factors have driven this pattern denies decades of history, when European economic downturns did not produce such an outflow. Last year, Jews from France emigrated to Israel in numbers that exceeded the peak of 5,292 set in 1969, in the wake of Israel’s victory in the Six-Day War.
The Jews have seen this story before, and they will never forget. They know that “noble” world leaders will quibble and equivocate as Jews are surrounded “for their own protection,” and then slaughtered to satisfy the bloodlust of evil men.
But there’s open debate about whether Jews should stay or flee. Watch the Trifecta episode below to learn more about that, and hear the story of the ship St. Louis, which left Hamburg loaded with Jews on May 13, 1939.
We are seeing a resurgence of anti-semetism here in the USA and it is led by dems. Our current president sat under a pastor spewing a pro-palestinian anti-Jew message for over 20 years and it appears to have sunk in.
You do not have to be a millionaire to be in high tax bracket in France, since the socialist president François Hollande has jacked up tax rates.
Europe killed off most of its Jews, then imported Muslims - how’s that working out?
It's like weekly krystalnacht in Fwance.
Yes, those are warning signs. And yet, millions of Jews are doing just fine here. I can’t imagine that they’d be safer in little Israel, surrounded by snarling Muslims.
I have a long history of personal and professional relationships with Jews; they have certainly enriched my life immeasurably as friends and colleagues. Another FReeper mentioned how difficult getting into the US is for legal immigrants. I find that heartbreaking and intolerable.
But what can anyone do?
The Israeli people look out for fellow Jews no matter where they are from.
It is very much like the movie Exodus (the good one) with Paul Newman.
Even though political sides often yell at each other, inside they are Israeli.
I nearly stayed there when I was there in ‘97.
Perhaps someday FR will see that we are a community too, surrounded by our opposition and that we should look out for each other.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

2016 cannot come here SOON ENOUGH!
Many do.
More go to Canada, however. In particular, French-speaking parts of Canada. Reason: learning a new language is a pain in the rear end.
