Yeah. So did Romney. It was Romney people that ran her campaign. They pretty much own the Iowa GOP at this point.
Joni is off to a very slow start.
She made a decision. That was the decision to accept the endorsement of the Senate Conservative Fund, and when it was a very tough race to campaign across the country directly for the support of constitutional conservatives.
Do we get our campaign donations back if she isn't with the people she pleaded to for votes?
I believe several FReepers also pointed out that Ernst got her campaign money and staff from the Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Manufacturers and Romney backers.
While it’s true she also got some endorsements from actual conservatives, they really didn’t contribute significantly with manpower or money.
It’s also true that Ernst wouldn’t back away from her pro-life and pro-Second Amendment stands, even though some of her advisers encouraged her to. She was never unequivocal on amnesty, as far as I heard.
Someone needs to let these jokers know we are watching every statement, every position and every vote.
Ernst is weak on amnesty but I think Ingraham at least got her to oppose doubling guestworkers.
Ernst wants to bring illegal aliens forward.
The thing is Grassley is better on amnesty than most GOP members in Congress and he wins by landslides every time. He’s not the best but he is better than Ron Johnson, Pat Toomey, Mark Kirk and others from Blue states.

Democrat Bruce Braley and Republican Joni Ernst are battling to become U.S. Senator from Iowa. Both support what most call “amnesty”, i.e., both would legalize millions of illegal aliens. So, what to do when your position is basically the same as your opponent? Argue over terms [1]:
To say that she doesn’t know what she’s going to do is HUGE red flag - not just a RINO trick. Much worse, but will not use the T word just yet. As you say, let’s wait and see how she votes.
I think you missed something along the way.
If Joni has a RINO streak in her, why a more conservative candidate run in Iowa and WIN THE ELECTION?
What is the point in criticizing anyone when the candidate you prefer did not even bother to run?
not sure what you mean, but this is just me blowing up prematurely... my prognosticating, well, I am right more often than not, which doesn’t make me happy at all.
The Catholic Catechism says immigrants must respect the laws of the host country.
“She made a decision. That was the decision to accept the endorsement of the Senate Conservative Fund, and when it was a very tough race to campaign across the country directly for the support of constitutional conservatives.”
And if I understand correctly, she also was endorsed by the Chamber.
And here come the dump-on-Joni crew from one story w/o any idea of the thought process going on. The same crew that slams scientists for not looking at all the relevant data....
I think that you missed the fact that Joni got elected to the SENATE, and has no working relationship with John Boehner, (Speaker of the House) and has not yet voted on killing Obama’s amnesty.
You are right - I did not remember that she is a Senator. Thanks for reminding me and straightening me out. I will shut up now until she gives her speech and we see how she votes on these vital issues.
I think that I’ll be watching her speech also. I saw part of her acceptance speech, and got from it an instant and huge dislike for her, especially her laugh, which compares to Hildabeest’s laugh. I do like her positions though.
Tonight’s the Night!
I have only heard Ernst speak once and was not impressed either. Unfortunately Palin and Bachman hit me the same way in having to listen to them give a speech. I do like what they say and what they stand for in action, but their voices need a lot of work. Let’s see what Senator Ernst will do beyond her words. Is that whiney quality an indicator of nerves when giving a speech? One-on-one speaking is definitely more listenable for Palin and Bachman, so I wonder.
Just read this and thought you might appreciate it. I disagree with the writer that the “content” was fine, just not her delivery. I liked neither.
