Duke's Downsized Call to Prayer Draws Hundreds in Support of School's Muslims
BY ELISHA FIELDSTADT Hundreds of students of varying religions gathered outside of the chapel on Duke University's campus Friday to take part in a Islamic call to prayer in support of the school's Muslim population, which had been offered then denied the opportunity to broadcast the call from the chapel's bell tower.
"I was out here to show my support and solidarity for the diversity and the religious beliefs for all of Duke's students," said Steven Boyd after the call to prayer, or "adhan," was read in English and Arabic.

I would guess that most of the Duke supporters of blaring the propaganda from the bell tower have a Common Core understanding of Islam. They probably believe that if we just open our hearts to Islam, we can all Coexist and live peacefully.
Yes. And also spoiled and oh, so much smarter than their parents, thanks to their enlightenment from the Duke liberal arts faculty.
If MSNBC is putting the crowd size in the ‘hundreds’, it’s a safe bet that it was probably about 40 or 50 people.
diversity and the religious beliefs, the dopes who will get us all killed, useful idiots who will learn the hard way if they ever become the majority and institute islamic law.
American colleges aren’t helping them to think clearly and critically.
What is it in the “minds” of these people that makes them think that a medieval violent value system is wonderful, just because it’s practiced by people with dark skin?
I wonder if the Duke student that is a porn star attended the rally?
Duke, Duke, just a minute it’s coming to me, isn’t that the joint where the “educated” morons jumped to believe the story of a drug addict hooker’s “phony rape” because she is Black? Stop me if I’m wrong here but isn’t Duke the place that had to pay millions of dollars (from increased tuition no doubt) to make the whole thing just go away?

Mindless Morons, Why would any employer ever hire someone from this school??
One does not obliterate and destroy the past or the tradition, but one works to restore its joy; thus, we are open to divine disruption, says the dean of Duke University Chapel.
by Luke A. Powery
Welcome to Duke Chapel, or what James B. Duke called the great towering church -- or what I like to think of these days as my office.
How much more creative can you get than to hire a Bapticostal as dean of a chapel filled with Anglican-Methodist liturgical leanings and located at a Top 10 elite research university?
We see this with Jesus this morning. Jesus does not make an appearance on The Colbert Report, but hes innovative, while at the same time working within a tradition. Jesus is not motivated by starting a revolution to demolish the religious tradition of his upbringing. In fact, he works within it.
And when you are standing -- in honor of the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther Kings I Have a Dream speech at the March on Washington, which is this coming week -- stand up until this nation lives out the true meaning of its creed that all people are created equal.
Stand up until the day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. Stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day. Stand up and let freedom ring, when we will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!
And then the formerly crippled woman will not be the only one free. We will be free.
The world will be free. Then we can text and say to all of our friends what I imagine the freed woman wrote on the ground as she praised God -- TGIF. Thank God, Im free.
It’s an excellent school. One of the very best. But it also has its rotten spots.
“All they need is a leader”
They have a leader!!!
“I would guess that most of the Duke supporters of blaring the propaganda from the bell tower have a Common Core understanding of Islam.

Someone threw rocks and broke several of the beautiful stained glass windows in the Duke Chapel a few months ago. Too bad they never caught the culprit.
I am not anti Islam. I respect other people’s religious beliefs. But hatred is hatred and terrorism is terrorism no matter the cloak or religion that it hides behind.

Generally, the hard sciences are not political and they have an excellent record there, although, I hear that political correctness is changing even that. It is in the social sciences and liberal arts where the insanity reigns. The morality of the ultra rich run these Ivy Leagues and the old rich have lived in a bubble for generations, plus, they think their money can insulate them from the ills which others suffer. I have lived with and associated with all kinds of people and I prefer the common folks any day.
Donald Rumsfeld
These idiot kids belong to the last group described by Rumsfeld.
I am sorry someone broke the stained glass windows. Also, I wish they’d caught the culprits. It is so easy to destroy; yet very hard to build.
Nothing against Duke or the nice, idealistic young people, but PC kills. I do not blame the young people but the idiot faculty members ought to know better.
Islam suppresses women. Universities are pro women’s rights. Why would a University be promoting Islam, yet not Christianity?
Every time I see the silly COEXIST bumper sticker, I resist the urge to educate those needing education. They would not listen to be any way.
Isn't that an oxymoron?
I agree with you about the faculty, even though my wife is one of them. They never apologized for the condemnation letter over 100 faculty signed against the Duke lacrosse team.
