Duke's Downsized Call to Prayer Draws Hundreds in Support of School's Muslims
BY ELISHA FIELDSTADT Hundreds of students of varying religions gathered outside of the chapel on Duke University's campus Friday to take part in a Islamic call to prayer in support of the school's Muslim population, which had been offered then denied the opportunity to broadcast the call from the chapel's bell tower.
"I was out here to show my support and solidarity for the diversity and the religious beliefs for all of Duke's students," said Steven Boyd after the call to prayer, or "adhan," was read in English and Arabic.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to have “hundreds” of retarded, rich white kids together in one spot like this.
They are at an age where they are idealistic and think they are going to make positive changes to the world.
They’ll get over it.
.
At places like Duke, it is ‘fashionable to favor whatever the majority of Americans disfavor. If this spring, someone proposed a Tribute to May as the Month of Mary, and to hold an outside procession with the bishops, they would protest and start burning Christian Icons in effigy. So transparent, so immature and nonthinking.
NBC is in there to take a little heat off the Muslims.
Just idiots.
It is incredible watching the fall-away. Gaining speed.
Doesn’t the mere act of saying the call to prayer make you a Muslim in the eyes of Islam?
All they need is a leader
Duke Alumni - Send these misguided students a copy of the 10 Commandments.
Better yet, quit sending the University of the Blue Devil money!
“I dont think its a good idea to have hundreds of retarded, rich white kids together in one spot like this.”
I don’t really blame the kids...it’s their parents. I’m sure, in just about all of the cases, the parents are either left-wingers and pushed it on their kids, or were neutral (thereby leaving the schools and Duke to do the same).
I say that because that was NOT the way my kids were raised. The kids that grew up in our house would have NEVER been part of that mob. They were given the facts (such as who flew the planes in 9/11 and what they believed) and were left to decide for themselves where they stood politically...and it was an easy choice for all of them - they just need to be informed.
Future democrat voters?
Should I wear my size 11 hunting boots, or get a pair of larger, steel-toe boots for the next event?
Past, present, AND future voters
I’m sure every one of these morons would have a conniption fit if the University were to have a Christian call to prayer.
These poor demented souls are not merely pro-Muslim, they are ANTI-Christ.
Typical educated asswipe leftist that want to be in touch with the cultist religion.
"There are those who do not know and do not know that they do not know they are dangerous and should be shunned. And then there are those who do not know and think they do. They are more dangerous because they are normally leaders and politicians and influence the environment in which we live and operate."
According to the Bible, everyone makes one of two choices:
1) for Christ
2) not for Christ
If one is ambivalent, not sure, etc., one will not be able to successfully claim one was “for Christ” when one is one day judged by Christ himself.
Simple logic, really, but it escapes most college students.
Target rich environment.
Yup. Part of the call to prayer is the stating have the ‘shahadah.’
The next question is why is it done in such a way from a minaret/tower etc. 5 times a day for all to hear?
Answer: It is not done to only call muslims to prayer and worship, but it is to also remind non-believers about the substance of Islamic belief.
The call to prayer is a form of terrorism to those who do not worship allah.
