Gorbachev warns of major war in Europe over Ukraine
Fiscal Times, The ^ | January 9, 2015 | Michael Nienaber / Reuters

"A war of this kind would unavoidably lead to a nuclear war," the 1990 Nobel Peace Prize winner told Der Spiegel news magazine, according to excerpts released on Friday. "We won't survive the coming years if someone loses their nerve in this overheated situation," added Gorbachev, 83. "This is not something I'm saying thoughtlessly. I am extremely concerned."

Russian’s just making threats as usual when they don’t get there way.I’m sure they are very aware that they are not the only country with nukes so why be dumb and make a statement like that?

It will only harden the resolve of the other Europeans to keep the Russians out of Ukrain and other Western European countries.

I think Gorbachev is right.

When it comes to worrying about national leaders in command over nuclear weapons, I worry more about total self admiring idiots like what's his name, our current US President.

WWII was different. American leaders wanted to win it and at any cost. Not so, now. I’m not in favor of sending young Americans to Europe to fight under today’s leadership. Our biggest enemy is here!

With the price of oil so low, and the Chinese economy faltering, now would be the time for the Europeans to cut the cord of dependency from Russian oil. Bar the import of Russian energy and other products. Get the Saudis (and US Fracking operations) to sell more to make up the difference.

There must be tons of oil off the coast of Europe...I wonder how deep is the ocean is there.

Of course the Watermelons (green-weenie commies) would have to be defeated.

Europe doesn’t appear to have the resolve to fight (Ras)Putin.

So NATO seems to asserting pressure on Russia.

Shouldn’t Europeans be more concerned about Muslim and African hordes over-whelming their civilization than about Putin who could keep Ukraine from falling to the same fate?

I stand by what you said and any involvement should only be on the supply level.
And their planes and ships to deliver. Let them die for their cause.

Our leadership today would only mean loss of life of our valuable American soldiers.
Not worth the cost unless the ROE is changed and we go for the Win and not a stalemate.
Yes, this means complete destruction and surrender.

WW3 will happen, just a matter of time.

If Putin/Russia perceive America attacking economically through sanctions, covert actions designed to collapse oil prices, they could retaliate by invading yet another nation, particularly the Baltics.

War usually begins when dictators believe they're about to be pushed from power.

That's the temporal prediction. Biblically speaking, WW3 is just around the corner.
