The U.S. economy added 252,000 jobs in December, sending the unemployment rate down to 5.6%. The latest jobs numbers continue a streak of strong economic growth, which has seen the unemployment rate drop 0.2 points in the last two months alone.
5.6%. LOL! Yeah! Right.
Well this might change with oil $$$ falling and less drilling. Less demand for oil pipelines..etc etc etc
“You want fries with that?”
Actually these lower oil prices are likely making jobs.
Pray America is waking
I’ve been hearing the left crow about the length of time that this recovery is taking. The slowest, weakest recovery since the great depression. It’s like being proud that it has taken twice as long to get over the flu and you are still not feeling well enough to go to work.
It’s pretty easy to lower the unemployment rate when you just quit counting millions of people without jobs as unemployed.
It is right and we have to deal with it. It's also irrelevant and the leftists have to deal with that. The rest of the BLS report shows
--that while the number of employed increased 111,000, the population increased 183,000 and the labor force shrank 456,000. Figures don't lie but liars figure; we may be better off a tad but we're still far worse off than we once were and where we should be by now.
The recovery is sluggish because of things like ObamaCare and all the regulations coming out of DC. Repeal ObamaCare and simplify the tax code would help. The drop in wages isn't good.
That’s what they do, see the Great Depression.
Meanwhile, Reagan didn’t get a break from them when his recovery took 2.5 years or so.
They keep telling us how bad it was during Bush. It was only bad for me during the last quarter of Bush, besides the 6 weeks 4.00 gas.
Six years of this current POS have been economic hell and they’re proud of it.
Yay! All Hail obamao!
The civilian labor force participation rate edged down by 0.2 percentage point to 62.7 percent in December. Since April, the participation rate has remained within a narrow range of 62.7 to 62.9 percent. In December, the employment- population ratio was 59.2 percent for the third consecutive month. However, the employment-population ratio is up by 0.6 percentage point over the year. (See table A-1.)
MSNBC should hire Gruber.
The worst part of this entire charade is that those who WANT to work, find themselves having to work two and three jobs to make less than they were making, when working one job just seven years ago! But, hey! The Obama Administration says everything is coming up roses!!
Strong?
So here’s my son’s dilemma. He used to work as a pizza driver if he were between jobs. The boss would give 36-38 hours a week and it was the best way for a young man to pick up fast and decent money to carry him through until he could get something solid.
He’s doing this now. But he’s only getting 6-10 hours. The most anyone is getting is 17.
Why? Companies can’t go over the magic 20 hours before benefits kick in (thanks to Obama), so now minimum wage jobs won’t give you the hours.
The only way to get by is to have two-three min wage jobs, but then the schedules start to conflict. Bosses want their employees to be available.
It’s a real frustration all the way around.
For sure, but is it low-wage part time jobs replacing what were excellent jobs in oil and manufacturing?
