A policewoman has died and a civil employee is seriously hurt after a shooting in the south of Paris on Thursday morning, France24 reports.
The two people were shot near a metro station in Montrogue by a man wearing a bulletproof vest, the AFP reports. He was carrying an automatic rifle.
So far, no connection has been established between Thursday morning's shooting and Wednesday's terrorist attack at the Paris office of the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, which left 12 dead.
France's interior minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the suspect was on the run, according to the AFP. It was earlier reported that the gunman had been detained.
There are also reports of an explosion at a kebab shop near a mosque in Lyon, but a link hasn't been established to Wednesday's Paris assault there either.

There is no reason to call the French cowardly.
It will take a bit for them to go into full 1970’s mode but it will come. A gendarme on every street corner with a machine gun will become the norm again.
That’s if they want to continue as an orderly society.

Ahh....most are but SOME are not.

I don’t think accusing the “French” of being cowards is entirely appropriate.
Their troops have been fighting alongside ours in Afcrapistan for years and honorably so. I have a great deal of respect for their troops.
The French are much like the rest of Western civilization...cowed into submission via political correctness imposed by leftists and commies.
Until the West wakes up and begins to eject/eliminate all traces of islam from its borders, we will face continued threats and attacks.
Leave the Irish out of it.
“defend Islam” is simply a ploy.
They’ve learned the value of victimhood among Westerners.
They’re all about domination, not defense.
The real mastermind is the Koran and the conversion, subjugation or death philosophy of the Muslims.
Violence and intimidation is used so frequently in politics because it works. Those who founded the use of violence in politics are now running the various countries, so they now come down hard on its use anywhere as they know who will be the next target.
Indeed, It could be argued if not for the French, there would not be a USA.
And the Ferguson Protestors cheer.
