Being “angry” and murdering people does NOT mix in my book.

I saw him on one of the Fox News shows last night and I was irate by the end of the segment. The guy was an arrogant ASS and should rightfully catch hell from any and all right thinking people, religious or not!

Doesn't sound like Bill Donohue. And I'd trust him before I'd trust anything the Daily News wrote about him.

I’m sure Charlie Hebdo’s done plenty to anger Catholics over the years.

Actuall, Francis does. It's the way the system is designed.

Nope.

the lesson here is that the media helps a certain type of person justify whatever he wanted to believe anyway.

Anger is understandable and acceptable. Aggression and murder are not. Get angry and then calm yourself down. It’s the mature adult thing to do.

Unfortunately, Donohue really did say this. It’s not a fantasy on the part of the Daily News.

Fits right in with his pope in the wacko beliefs. What a joke.

Nothing like reading before commenting - from the article: Donohue, whose New York City-based conservative organization is not part of the Catholic Church,

Actually, I have to say that today the Vatican came out with some somewhat better, less Islamophiliac statements supporting freedom of speecn...although they still avoided naming the perpetrators of the attack. It was just “hatred,” and according to them, the attack was “revenge for a cartoon of Al-Baghdadi” which was published that day.

The attack had obviously been planned well in advance, long before the cartoon of Al-Baghdadi was published (which was literally 15 minutes before the attack) so what we see here is a Benghazi-style attempt to ignore the real cause and attribute it to Western provocation.

Understood that this Pope is all over the place and it opens him and Catholics up to much “discerning criticism” - it was the other guy’s reference to “his pope” that I was commenting on. I am not a Catholic, and will call out things I see as being “amiss”, but will also point out when others make gratuitous connections. I probably need to just leave such minor things alone and let others sort them out.

IIRC Bill Donahue is or has been president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights and often speaks for the Catholic Church (even if he is not an official spokesman).

Would he excuse a bombing of an abortion clinic on the same grounds?

RE: Do Christians have the right to be angry with Charlie Hebdo’s publisher?

Absolutely, especially when the magazine insults Jesus Christ.

But being angry does not mean one resorts to violence. That would be against what Jesus Himself taught.

By your rationale, Obama speaks for you. But you knew the point I was trying to convey; I disagree with the direction Francis is taking the Church..

FReepers should read his actual statement. He is saying that the folks at the magazine were uncivil and intentionally offensive. He is not saying they should not have the right to do that. He is definitely not saying the terrorists should have killed them.

He is saying the cartoonists should have been good neighbors to everyone and not published crap like this:
