If anyone’s to blame for the execution-style murder of a dozen people at a French satirical magazine, the Catholic League’s president says it’s the paper's slain publisher.
In a stunning article titled ’Muslims Are Right to be Angry,” Bill Donohue blasted Charlie Hebdo’s “intolerance” for repeatedly depicting and insulting religious figures which he said provoked Wednesday's mass shooting at their Paris office.
Donohue, whose New York City-based conservative organization is not part of the Catholic Church, said “it is too bad” that Charlie Hebdo’s editor, Stephane Charbonnier, “didn't understand the role he played in his tragic death.” …

They can be as angry as they wish. One can argue that they are “right” to be angry. It doesn’t make killing innocent people legal or moral.

He can be pretty pointed in his remarks at times, but he’s usually close to right about most things. At least, I can’t recall him being THIS off-target, especially on something so obvious as IslamoNazi mass murders and terrorism...

Angry? Perhaps. But for some reason there is a certain religious group that turns anger into mass murder at the drop of a turban.
This is a very disappointing response. I understand Donohue’s passion and anger on behalf of his faith and he’s apparently expanded that to other faiths. But in any way to accept that anger because of a cartoon justifies what these savages did is incomprehensible. Hopefully Donohue will rethink and amend his commends.
He is catching well deserved hell for this. I actually called the phone number and left an irate voice mail. At the time I called they were giving out Donahue’s cell phone number “for the press”. I didn’t call that, but try it, it might still be available.
Old Bill is going to have a bad day tomorrow, I hope.

Many things offend me, I’ve really never ever considered murdering anyone over any of them.
And yes, I have considered murdering people, but they need to actually have harmed me, not offended me.
Bill’s comments are racist. He doesn’t think they can be civilized.
He’ll take a lot of heat for this and should.
I think he’s starting to lose it. Recall his cave to the homo assault on the St.Patrick Day parades, and now this.
