The last time there was a speaker vote, Rep. Mick Mulvaney (R-S.C.) didn't vote for John A. Boehner, protesting against the Ohio Republican by voting for no one.
On Tuesday, he did vote for Boehner. And he had some not-so-nice things to say about the movement to try to defeat the top Republican.
Below is his full statement, which is remarkably blunt and the kind of thing that is rarely seen from a member of Congress. (Seriously, it's worth reading the whole thing.)

This isn’t about power and self-enrichment.
This IS about restoring conservatism and state’s rights and shrinking the federal reach into the entire country.
Seems some elected types need to be reminded why they were elected in the first place.
Put every one of these cowards on the Do Not Re-Elect List for 2016. Do not forget what side they supported yesterday.
Boner thinks he is the Obama Mini-Me
How in-your-face to Tea Partiers can someone get!!?
Mulvaney’s drunk with Boehner’s power! What a jerk!
They will all be replaced by dems in the next 4 years because every conservative voter will turn out no more. Cost Raca is looking better by the day.
To the Big Guv elites of both parties, that is just a quaint belief held by Bitter Clingers.
To them it is all about who gets first dibs at the pig trough and who gets to loot the treasury.
So why didn't YOU run Mulvaney and force that secret vote?
Also, I seem to remember that the talking point at the time was "no worries, this wasn't the real vote. That will happen at the beginning of the new Congress in January."
Burns me up that these hacks talk about what great "leaders" they are during their campaigns, but then become sniveling sheep once they are elected and arrive in DC.
But... the GOPe are NOT about “restoring conservatism”.
They ARE about extending federal reach into the entire country.
They just want to be in control of it.
As far as I could tell, they all had plenty of reminding. The phone lines for GA reps were burning up and even those who were newly elected tea party reps boted for bonehead. I’m simply done with the lot of them.
There is no reforming the GOP from within. The only step that could now be taken, but won’t, is for the core of the opposition to publicly renounce the GOP and form a new party to cover these sitting members of Congress. Conservative leaders and opinion makers outside of Congress also would need to support this effort. Third party has always been argued as a death knell to the Republicans that would guarantee a Democrat victory, but the present uniparty system is not going to yield to Conservatives.
The leadership/committee system is the ruination of our republic. There must be a better way than setting up kingdoms within Congress.
A very well reasoned response and I can see his points. But let’s go a little further as to responsibility for these people being in office. Don’t we bear some of the blame for not recruiting the best candidates on the state level and supporting their efforts once selected? Like many of you I’m mad that “no balls, tear stained” Boehner will continue to rule the House. I’m even madder that he is already taking revenge on those who oppose him. But it’s time to get even and start working now to find and support new blood for 2016.

Just a better worded poor excuse for caving in. He probably got punished last time for not voting for Boehner. I would have more respect for the guy if he just said “I voted for Boehner because I didn’t want to get my committee assignments jerked away again”.
I’m getting junk email about retiring in Belize. The queen of England is still recognized as the Queen of Belize and English is the official language.
It’s less likely to be invaded by a radical neighbor because It still falls under the shadow of the Crown.
Did he really say the vote came up 11 votes short, and then proceed to name 10 others who voted for Boner, despite their conservatism?
Too bad Boner doesn’t go after Obama and the RATS as he does fellow pubbies who oppose him.
