A simple biography of the film critic Roger Ebert would have made for a full documentary, but the director Steve James set the bar much higher with Life Itself. The film, receiving its television premiere Sunday night on CNN, covers the life and career of Mr. Ebert, who died in 2013 ...

coming in now with a liberal-barfing predictive thumbs down.
You got that right.
I did not like his taste in movies, or his Liberal attitude. I think that in some way, he did for movies what Simon Cowell did to modern pop music — he promoted dreck and convinced a lot of people that quality was not going to sell as well as crap.
And we should care why exactly?
Mario Cuomo and Roger Ebert. . . two libtard icons ... have no use for either of them . . . but they will be worshiped, won’t they?
We have two liberals at FR that use entertainment stories to express their liberalism, that they don’t like to do openly.
I must have missed something. Why the big push to make this guy into something special?
What two are they?
You’ve been here since 1998 and don’t know?
What are your guesses?
The hard left Ebert has some hardcore fans here among the liberals.
1. I am proudly a liberal. I am also patriotic, reasonable, pro-American, and stand for family values. [March 2010]
2. I have watched with a kind of petrified fascination in recent years as the world creeps closer to what looks to me like disastrous climate change. The poles are melting. Ocean levels are rising. The face of the planet is torn by unprecedented natural disasters. States of emergency have become so routine that governors always seem to be proclaiming one. Do they have drafts of proclamations on file? [March 2013]
3. That James Holmes is insane, few may doubt. Our gun laws are also insane, but many refuse to make the connection This would be an excellent time for our political parties to join together in calling for restrictions on the sale and possession of deadly weapons. That is unlikely, because the issue has become so closely linked to paranoid fantasies about a federal takeover of personal liberties that many politicians feel they cannot afford to advocate gun control. [July 2012]
4. I believe empathy is the most essential quality of a civilization. [May 2012]
5. In the years since then Ive known a fair share of gay couples who seemed as established and content as other couples, some more some less. In a society that was slowly outgrowing the traditions of patriarchy and matriarchy, theyd made a lateral move into humanarchy. The idea of them being joined in a civil union was a no-brainer. Theyd cast their lot together, shared their duties, had an implicit agreement to stand by each other, and certainly deserved to have their relationship recognized by the state if only for reasons of ownership and inheritance. [August 2010]
Was he still on television after Gene Siskel died?
Why make a movie about the weak link in the pair?
Why would I watch leftists worshipping a leftist? Besides having horrible taste in movies, Ebert was a leftie jerk.
I guess this won't be the year we can all finally forget about the man behind Beyond the Valley of the Dolls after all.
Curse you, CNN! Shoving his fat face in ours yet again!
His politics stunk to high heaven but I enjoyed his film writing - when he kept his political views out of it, which was most of the time.
That’s why I put my pre-emptive review out there. Now you don’t have to. You already know it’s going to suck a$$. :)
