Jerusalem - Jewish settlers attacked American consular officials Friday during a visit the officials made to the West Bank as part of an investigation into claims of damage to Palestinian agricultural property, Israeli police and Palestinian witnesses say.
Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said that a small number of settlers threw rocks at officials who had come to an area near the Jewish settlement outpost of Adi Ad in two consular vehicles to look into Palestinian claims that settlers uprooted scores of Palestinian olive trees the day before.
He said that after the rock barrage began, the vehicles left the area, adding that police had opened an inquiry following the filing of an official complaint.
Another police official, spokesman Luba Samri, said that the American security personnel did not use their weapons during the attack.
Abu Samra, who owns the land in the village of Tormousyya where the damage to the olive trees allegedly took place, said he accompanied the officials with two relatives.
"There were six security guards from the consulate riding in two cars," Abu Samra said. "When they got out of the cars they were attacked by young settlers ... They struck the cars with clubs but the security guards did not respond with their weapons."
Abu Samra said that after the attack began the American security guards returned to their vehicles and drove away, explaining that they were under strict instructions not to engage the settlers in any way.
Peter Galus, a spokesman at the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem, confirmed that American consular personnel were pelted by the rocks thrown by settlers. He denied reports in some Israeli media outlets that the Americans had deployed and aimed their weapons at the stone throwers, adding that the United States was cooperating with Israel in investigating the incident.

This refutes what was said by the Acting Head of the Samaria Regional Council (Yossi Dagan) said. And Israelis were not threatened with M-16's.
When all of these agree, that rips apart what some news reports in Israel are saying.
It is not unknown that Palestinians would uproot olive trees themselves and blame it on Israeli’s just to stir things up.
So what the hell is the embassy doing running around Israel, meeting with Palestinians?
How would we like the Israeli consulate in Ferguson palling around with the hands up crowd?
Isreali police, Israeli officials, Us consulate officials and others have probably heard stuff like that before.
Looks like they didn’t buy that here, though.
Skeptical reserve on both your houses.
With their security detachment armed with full-auto weapons. The US embassy people have no business sticking their noses into the affairs of the host country.
Acting Head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, has filed a request to the Minister of the Interior Gilad Erdan demanding he immediately expel the American Consulate staff members who entered the Samaria village of Adei Ad Friday and threatened Israeli Jews with an M-16. "As revealed through Wikileaks few years ago, these supposed 'officials' are intelligence agents and spies in every respect," said Dagan... "If Israeli intelligence officials and armed Israeli security guards stationed in one of the Israeli consulates in the United States had participated in a political provocation without any coordination with the police and threatened American citizens with weapons, at best, they would be arrested and deported, and the more likely case would be them spending several years in federal prison." ['Deport US Consulate Staff Who Threatened Jews']
Most likely. Guess it’s a two-way street.
Good. We have no business in Israel’s internal affairs. If Saudi Arabia sent their princes here to determine squat for Cair in our villages, we’d do the same. And rightly so.
Did any US official die from the stoning. If not than they just got pelted with small rocks. Gee making a mountain of a molehill, but thats the Obama Administration, to make its so Israel looks bad. probably one rock hit a cosular staff and the wimp cried he was stoned to death - if he is alive he did not get stoned.
Even if one believes the denial that US forces drew their weapons (and I don’t), they still aren’t denying the fact that US forces and Palis went into Jewish territory without coordinating with the government.
Nor are they giving an explanation as to what caused this unprecedented confrontation between US forces and the Israelis.
That tells me all I need to know.
There will be refutations between witnesses, yes.
The point is that sending armed foreign agents into an allied nation, or any nation, without coordination with the responsible local public safety or defense officials, is asking for major troubles. Especially when the so-called reason for their presence was such an obvious lie (or else it constituted almost a declaration of war against the host country). Put simply, anyone coming into MY community packing major heat and (allegedly by some witnesses, at least) threatening our people or village...and then giving such patently ridiculous excuses for even their presence there, while waving or carrying M-16’s — is asking for MAJOR TROUBLE. Major trouble. This is so obvious as to not even be worth commentary. Other than to observe that this little invasion style operation has Agent Provocateur Effort written all over it. The superiors of these wayward, armed personnel were just looking to create an incident, trouble. They failed to really do it very well this time. But watch, they’ll be back. They have the “audacity” to keep pushing for the “transformations” they want.
Also the fact that the US and Palis were doing this unscheduled West Bank incursion on New Year’s Day makes it twice as bad.
Do they ever take a day off or were they just stirring up trouble on the holiday?
ps: the entire world has learned, the hard way admittedly, not to confuse the United States of America with the current pro-IslamoNazi, anti-American/Christian/Jew WashingtonDC regime.
Remember that the current WashingtonDC regime has had the ‘audacity” to overthrow, bomb, attack, invade, arm terrorist gangs tso invade, or subvert a number of foreign nations’ governments in the last six years. Several of these were friendly to USA, too.
Its a bit harder to overthrow democratically-elected governments in advanced societies like UK or Israel but ... if he can find ways of doing it, you can be he will...
and please don’t overlook that this is an especially sensitive time in Israel anyway right now, due to their being in the middle of a national election campaigin....(therefore, a particularly good time for enemy or foreign subversion efforts)
Do you blame them?
The article appears, although somewhat ambiguously, to refer to what happened when the consular officials got to the olive trees, which was likely after the incident with the security guards reported in the Israeli press.
we have to be aware of the tactical timing of little provocative events such as this, coming as they are in the heat of the Israeli national elections.
O would just LOVE to find a way to overthrow the Jerusalem government, and install a traitor-style clique (in his own image, as many would say), one that would not defend their little country there anymore.
“Community organizers” are taught subversive tactics such as provoking incidents that can be blown up and distorted through mass media or other propaganda channels, to try to “embarrass” their targets.
And while they may attempt such (rotten) things at any time, they’re particuarly drawn to doing so when they perceive they have a chance of being most effective (such as during an election campaign — when there’s not sufficient time for the truth to catch up — before ballots are cast and, potentially, history is “transformed.”)
Pray for America (first), we have two more years of this to get through. Then yes, pray for Israel and all good people everywhere (they are not immune from subversion and other ‘community organizing’ efforts)
I think the regime in DC is trying to stir the sh!@ in Israel.
