WASHINGTON A 95-year-old newlywed Virginia man has died just weeks after his 96-year-old wife was taken away by family members to Florida.
Eddie Harrison died Tuesday in a hospital after suffering from influenza, said Rebecca Wright, who was caring for the couple in their Alexandria, Va., home. Harrison became distressed after his wife and longtime companion, 96-year-old Edith Hill, was taken away, Wright said. Wright is Hill's daughter.
"He lived for her, and she lived for him. It's the love story of the century," Wright said, recalling how they would dance, take walks and care for each other.

I’ll bet she knew Ghandi! He was put off when she put milk in his tea without him asking, though.
RIP.
One of my favorite Mother Angelica anecdotes...
Mother A: Hello. What's your question?
Caller: I wanted some advice on how to deal with my sisters.
M: What's the problem?
C: They're fighting... over an estate.
M: Oh.... Are they fighting over money?
C: No....
M: What?
C: Um... They're fighting over... a toilet.
Audience laughs.
M: A what?!
C: A toilet.
More laughter.
M: I thought that's what you said.
C: Well, it's not just a toilet.
M: Oh? (more laughter)
C: It's an inlaid toilet.
Uproarious laughter.
M: Ohhhhhhhhh, an inlaid toilet... (rolls eyes). Why didn't you say so?
More laughter.
C: I know, but...
M: Well, I'll tell you what to do...
C: What Mother?
M: I would tell them to take turns sticking their heads in it.
Audience roars.
Then everyone does.............
I hate to tell the kids but mom has the right to get married, again if she so chooses.
I was going to mention the obvious...but then they were probably already blue.
Exactly. My parents always talk about not wasting money so they can hand it down. I told them that perfection would be spending their last dollar on a snickers bar, and then dying right after they eat it.
But that since this is hard to coordinate, people often die and still have some money left over.
Inheritance is life just handing the change to the heirs.
Family are the worst when someone gets close to death, they are vultures looking to pick the carcass (inheritance) clean. I hope God gives that miserable excuse for a woman a HOLY kick in the butt....
She will get what she deserves....
It was her family, her daughter that disputed the marriage, it seems they were just together for ten years then married recently.... still unbelievable. No wonder he died, because people die when losing a spouse of ten years. Their age may indicate a relationship that wasn’t consummated, either way ten years is a long time, and it was none of the daughters business.
Or was Barber herself.
It pales in comparison to these old guys getting conned and suckered into marriage when they're in their late 70s and 80s, etc...The line of hustlers wraps around the country several times.
Maybe an Obama pain pill could have saved him.
I’ve heard of elderly widows and widowers living together, but remaining unmarried for years to continue receiving higher Social Security or other benefits. But as illness, incapacity and death approach, they get married to more easily grant inheritance rights and decision-making powers to their partner.
Perhaps this poor woman’s children finally decided to pay some attention to her and make sure her will was “corrected”.
yep, there it is.
That said, if you have kids and want to marry a second time, just get a prenup, that the stuff you had before goes to the kids in equal shares, and the stuff acquired after marriage goes to the surviving spouse, that covers it all.
...”It pales in comparison to these old guys getting conned and suckered into marriage when they’re in their late 70s and 80s”....
Oh come on...those sugar daddy’s know exactly what they’re doing and to them it’s worth it. They know what they’re getting into....and so does the gold digger.
Call them what you will they know the game.
In Ohio, even a person judged to be incompetent can still be married, it's about the only thing they legally can do for themselves. There are two separate guardianships: one for "estate" and another for "person" (although it can be one individual for both). If there is a guardian in place, it does not change the status of guardian of estate; however, the spouse automatically become the guardian of person, as the court assumes the person they married has their best interests in mind, as far as living arrangements, care, and so forth. The estate ($$) remains with the court appointed guardian, until and unless the county probate court changes it. By taking her out of state (at far as Ohio law is concerned) the husband would have no control over her at that point.
The problem is further complicated by the fact most states do not recognize guardianships appointed in other states (few reciprocal laws).
Nevertheless, the actions of the "family" that separated these two individuals in reprehensible. Damnation isn't good enough for them.
Peace.
Well sure, all these lonely guys in their late 80s, final years suffering from dementia, dozens of drugs, and God knows what, know exactly that their being hustled....Sure.
The new bimbo who came out of nowhere gets all the inheritance, family heirlooms, property etc, and mans family are left with zip holding an empty bag.
Ya, these medicated 80 year old targets know exactly what’s happening...You bet.
