Target has stirred outrage with an “Annie”-themed ad campaign featuring a white model in place of the black actress who stars in the latest film version of the rags-to-riches story.
An online petition calling for the big-box retailer to remove the ads and apologize to "Annie" star Quvenzhané Wallis had accrued more than 10,000 signatures by Wednesday morning. The petition launched on Monday.

Certainly. As soon as Columbia Pictures, Will Gluck, and Will Smith remove the movie from theaters and apologize to the estate of Harold Gray for casting "Annie" star Quvenzhané Wallis to play a character that was always written as a caucasian redhead.
(And while we're at it, the writers of the original 1977 stage musical that the movie is "based on" should apologize for making FDR into a heroic character when the original comics always despised him and promoted free market capitalism and anti-new deal policies!)
these people would have preferred maybe that the classic theme name would have been UPDATED to ARNIE???

In their ads, and in photos throughout their stores, Target uses black models way out of proportion to their share of the population. Look next time you happen to go to a Target, and you’ll see. They’ve gone out of their way to pander to blacks, but they use a white model this time and they get slammed for it. Serves them right, I say.
Boycott the Afirmative Action Annie! Don’t watch the movie, don’t but the products, don’t see anything that studio makes!
Just imagine if they cast a White guy to play Jackie Robinson in the movie 42. Or what if, when they filmed the movie Selma they had Rosie O’ Donnell dressed in drag playing MLK?

Apparently Target has changed their video. The one on their website features three girls. One white, one Asian and one black. So if they didn’t change it, what’s all the hubub, bub?

We’ve got a billion actresses who were white that played this role. One black one and we can’t ever use a white actress for Annie ever again?
This sh1t is getting out of hand. It’s like the entire country is now Jerry Springer.
There was a guy on hallmark’s Home and family who stated not to go see Annie. Only three songs where the same as the original. Everything else is made to be more about rap music. I do not think he made many points with the biracaials and blacks.
target was trying to portray the original Annie, now it is coming to bite them in the backside, because the Blacks feel slighted. Please I am so sick of having to watch my p’s and q’s about anything and everything that could hurt the black’s feelings.
I feel really bad that Daddy Warbucks was represented as a politician whom had to score points as adopting an orphan and become a family to be elected. Nothing like the original Daddy Warbucks who was a Tycoon and had differing opinions with FDR.
