The suicide of a transgender teen is catching national attention in part because of a suicide note she left behind online.
Leelah Alcorn, 17, of Kings Mills, Ohio, was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on I-71 about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, according to local media.
Posthumous posts started to appear on her Tumblr page, titled “Lazer Princess,” including her suicide note and a post apologizing to her closest friends.
“My death needs to mean something,” she wrote. “My death needs to be counted in the number of transgender people who commit suicide this year. I want someone to look at that number and say ‘that’s f---ed up’ and fix it. Fix society. Please.”
Alcorn's note explains that she has felt like a girl trapped in a boy’s body ever since she was 4. Then she cried tears of joy when she learned what transgender meant at 14.
“After 10 years of confusion I finally understood who I was,” the suicide note reads. “I immediately told my mom, and she reacted extremely negatively, telling me that it was a phase, that I would never truly be a girl, that God doesn’t make mistakes, that I am wrong.”

Frankly, my belief is that the kid was confused, but I think it's the culture of the past 14 years or so that's confusing the hell out of them. Everything is ok? No it isn't, but it'll take you a long time to figure that out if you go through everything to find out what most of us could have told you from the get-go without sending you off to find yourself ... before you pull a Columbus and find yourself somewhere else and think you're where you were supposed to be.

One of the things the article mentioned is that both the parents are Christians. It doesn’t say what ‘flavor’ of Christianity they are.
It sounded like all they did was just ridicule him and tell him he was wrong. It doesn’t appear they ever attempted to get him the help he needed.
Also, here’s a question: Suppose the parents of a gender-confused child DO get him help. However, after moths, if not years of therapy, the child absolutely refuses to acknowledge their proper gender. What should be done then?

I have some messed up relatives. The father was an alcoholic and the mother was odd. One son was given the option of going to prison or the army due to heavy drug use and drugs eventually killed him. The other son and daughter both turned out gay. It’s obvious the home environment messed them up.
I love ‘Slap Shot’. The vulgar way he ripped into the owner...LOL. That was great.
I believe he only acted and dressed like a girl.
