Richmond, Va. (1140wrva.com) A local oil industry analyst says look for $1.75 gas soon. John Zehler says retailers are giving up more and more of their record profit margins, which he says are around 40 cents, as the competition heats up.

If this low, low oil price continues past the end of next summer, I suspect even North Dakota will start getting just a little bit hot under the collar. There may still be a need to produce oil soley for national reserves.

This will be partially offset by the coming increase in gasoline tax here in Virginia.

Not in NYS.....We have about 70 cents in taxes per gallon.
Not in California. Starting January 1, 2015, California will be adding a carbon tax to each gallon of gasoline. Minimum tax will be $0.15. No one know exactly how high this tax will go.
Going somewhat off subject but related—I was informed by someone (a lib) that fracking was only for home heating oil. lol
If only propane would follow gas prices.

Filled up last night for buck-eighty-eight a gallon at the BP in Lexington, Mo. By the time you guys hit $1.75 we may well be under $1.50.
