HONOLULU (AP) - Warning from President Barack Obama to congressional Republicans: I have a veto pen and, come January, I won't be afraid to use it.

Since taking office in 2009, Obama has only vetoed legislation twice, both in fairly minor circumstances. But with Republicans set to take full control of Congress next year, Obama is losing his last bulwark against a barrage of bills he doesn't like: the Senate.

"I haven't used the veto pen very often since I've been in office," Obama said in an NPR interview airing Monday. "Now, I suspect, there are going to be some times where I've got to pull that pen out."

He added: "I'm going to defend gains that we've made in health care. I'm going to defend gains that we've made on environment and clean air and clean water."

There is a veto proof majority, right. So he can veto all he wants but the House and Senate can override the vetoes and Obama has no other choice.

"Our GOP representatives are human. After a few years inside the beltway, the succumb to the temptations placed before them." It seems to happen to all of them. They talk a good game to get elected, go to a few parties and get a taste of power, then morph into what we were voting against. All the while they try to convince us that we don't know how things get done in Washington. Until they see the guillotines erected on the National Mall, and know the citizenry has the will to use them ... nothing will change.

Well, it’s obvious that they should keep passing politically popular bills that Obama opposes,

and MAKE HIM VETO THEM.

"If we had a muscular GOP"

I believe that Boehner has been undergoing rigorous surrender training from the French. He's the Man for the Job!

Utter denial. He really doesn’t think (or care) that the voters repudiated him and his policies in November. He will because he can.

I started to "correct" your comment: “If we had a muscular to a testicular GOP they would turn the Kenyan monkey’s precious pen sideways and shove it deep up his wazoo.”

But then I realized that is exactly what his Royal Highness would like.

Lock and Load folks, it’s going to be real nasty, as this is a warning shot over the bow that he didn’t understand the last election.

He stated that he is going to rule for the people that voted for him by staying home and not casting votes in Nov 2014 - Obie believes staying home is a vote for something!!!

“I’m the guy who is elected by everybody and not just from a particular state or a particular district,” Obama said when asked to address the “devastating losses” his party endured, “and they want me to push hard to close some of these divisions, break through some of the gridlock, and just get stuff done.”

Gains? That’s what I was thinking. If all he’s gonna do is defend his imaginary “gains” then I guess that means he’s just gonna take a couple more years off. With apologys to Jack Nicholson-— there ain’t no freeking gains.
