‘not necessarily’ means there may be another explanation...

Airbus A320-216. Construction #3648. Delivered October 16, 2008.

So it is not an old worn out clunker.

As I get older and perhaps more cynical I too get more and more concerned about flying in a plane, it’s silly of course, flying is a hugely safe method of transportation and when I was a young man I had total confidence in aircraft but now before the plane takes off I think to myself:

“Here we all are packed into an aluminium tube carrying several tons of highly explosive kerosene and the bloke at the front is going to send it hurtling down this concrete runway as fast as he can until he can get it to lift off into the air. Then when he has done that he is going to fly through the clouds, for long periods in the middle of the night for thousands of miles until he finds a speck of light from way up in the air and then he will slow the plane down so that it drops to the earth and he can land it on a concrete strip and hurtle along the ground again until he can bring it to a stop. Hey what could possibly go wrong?”

Like I say I am either completely illogical for worrying about that or I am the only sane person aboard the big flying tube.

Sounds like “we don’t know so let’s hope yet” in this context. But now we’re hearing about a possible crash.

Do most airliners have satellite-based wifi now? I have no idea, quit flying. I haven’t looked on maps to see if this flight track was close to land-based 3G or whatever.

I don’t get to travel much in the first place so I don’t have to worry about ships. My “travels”, especially overseas, are via Google Earth. LOL!

I disagree, I’ll use that phrase if I’m unsure. If someone asks me something and I do say that, I will immediately make it my mission to find out.

I don’t believe this flight had a happy ending.

Adrian Monk. Refers to the TV show MONK. He was afraid of lots of things but one was flying. There was an airplane episode that was hilarious.

They are excellent when something big suddenly happens in the world

That's a bit over stated.

It's not like they have any competition at FOX News at nights and on weekends.

They work Bankers Hours over there and still get huge ratings during the week.

That might make sense, maybe the weather was just overwhelming, but the fierce winds made the landing impossible.

Yes it means there may be another explanation, but when you are talking about BRINGING DOWN PLANES, it is not too comforting.

Why would the pilot have wanted to land? Unless there was something wrong with the aircraft and he was going down? Heard reports that he wanted to increase altitude to avoid clouds

Those readings were from the BEGINNING of the flight. The last readings showed the plane at 32,000 ft.

It sounds like this was a matter of bad timing for the flight and not something sinister. Storms blew up, ran out of steam, and are gone. Happens all the time in TN and I’d say it can happen anywhere.

I just hate a planeload of people got caught up in it. Very sad.

So the Fox reporter on the breakin talked about this “crashed plane” and said there was just a press conference in Indonesia.

Fox NEWS just said that there is an unconfirmed report that his plane crashed somewhere between Java and Sumatra.

Maybe he got the idea that it would be better to land in Belitung and tried it. Unfortunately he missed.

“Fox NEWS just said that there is an unconfirmed report that his plane crashed somewhere between Java and Sumatra.”

Exactly, and they showed a snippet of the press conference, no sound. CNN must be showing that too? Anyone? But I’m watching Judge Jeannine anyway.
