I gave up flying years ago after a couple of weird instances....anyway, as long as there are cars, boats, trains, and ships, it will be okay.

Well one can surface from the clouds as well as water, my friend...Let us hope, but now I hear there has been a plane crash, so we wait.
If you think about it, many passengers were probably texting when the weather got rough, so the communications trails should give us some data.

That was going to be my reply. Been too long and if it was just the radio out, some sign of the plane flying would have been seen by other planes by now.
Based on reports a few posts above, they may have found the crash site. Praying there are survivors.
Ok I am wondering why the pilot did not know of the storm before taking off....suspicious?

CNN is all over this. They are excellent when something big suddenly happens in the world - I’m watching it now.
750 feet and 158 knots-———sounds like an attempt to ditch possibly. If free falling I would think a higher speed.
With summertime in the tropics weather damage is certainly possible. We can hope they did not have carbon fiber vertical stabilizer attachments that failed.
But why not any emergency radio messages?

The plane left Juanda International Airport at 5:27 a.m. Sunday (5:27 p.m. Saturday ET) and was due to arrive in Singapore at 8:37 a.m. Sunday (7:37 p.m. ET), according to the website.
Bad weather might have been a factor in the plane’s disappearance, CNN meteorologist Derek Van Dam said.
“We still had lines of very heavy thunderstorms” when the plane was flying, Van Dam said. “But keep in mind, turbulence doesn’t necessarily bring down airplanes.”

The flight was supposed to be about two and a half hours long. ATC lost contact about an hour before it was due to arrive. It’s been “missing” for about 5 hours.
Doesn’t look good.
I simply won’t get on a plane. No reason for it that I can pinpoint but I’d have to be knocked unconscious in order to be put on a plane. I get light-headed and queasy if I have to go to an airport to pick someone up or see them off.
Cars, boats, and trains work for me. With all the sickness they’ve had on ships lately, I think I’ll pass on those. Not exactly fun. ergh.
