Just as Second Amendment civil rights activists feared, federal government bureaucrats were supplying illegal firearms to Mexican drug cartels in the expectation that it would led to pressure for more regulation. Analyzing a 60 page document release in response to a FOIA action by Judicial Watch Attkisson writes:

Attkisson is a featured guest on C-SPAN this weekend. Some of the calls should be really interesting.

The ATF should be defunded and shut down! Give whatever legitimate functions it might have had to the FBI.

Would not implying that they were doing that in anticipation of US citizens being killed by these arms

I’m shocked I tell ya, shocked.
In a rational world the Mexican government would have had Holder indicted and demanded his extradition by now.

These cases demonstrate the ongoing trafficking of firearms by Mexican DTOs and other associated groups operating in Arizona and the need for reporting of multiple sales for certain types of rifles in order to ferret out those intent on providing firearms to these criminal groups. But they already had background checks, and the dealers did in fact notify ATF that these sales were suspicious, and were told to proceed with the transactions.

Holder’s Justice Department was begging the Mexican government to sue US gun manufacturers in US courts.
It would have been a billion dollar trial. Lots of money to spread around, and precedents galore.

Heck - all the author had to do was monitor FR from the get-go and it would have been obvious long ago...
For a bunch of folks who seem to have no positive plan to turn the government conservative, we do have a bunch of smart and intuitive folks - I bet if they all stopped with all the negative things we can't/shouldn't do, and laid out a positive plan of action, we might have a winner.

The ATF should be defunded and shut down! Give whatever legitimate functions it might have had to the FBI, which is not necessarily many of the functions that it presently has. E.g. enforcing gun regulations, the latter which are prohibited by the Second Amendment.

This is no surprise, it’s exactly what most surmised it to be. Yes the ATF should be closed down and holder and many in his department and the ATF willingly chose to violate the law for political ends, much like the nazis they are. They should all be in prison and the ring leaders, holder and obama are probably where it started should get vat least life without parole. This was designed to end in loss of life, that would be the hook to enact gun laws, life doesn’t appear to be worth much to those bastards.
