Seven men have been arrested in connection with alleged threats made toward police officers since Saturday afternoon, when two NYPD officers were shot in the head from behind while sitting in their patrol car, New York City police said.
Police said in a statement Wednesday that they have assessed hundreds of online postings and calls to 911 and pressed the public to continue to report any suspicious activity.
"All threats against members of the NYPD are taken seriously and are investigated immediately to determine the credibility and origin of the information," the statement read.
The arrests come as an investigation is underway into Ismaaiyl Brinsley, the 28-year-old who authorities say shot Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos in Brooklyn.

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -
An allegedly suicidal man with a knife was shot and wounded by a Chicago Police officer on Christmas Day after he lunged at officers, injuring one of them, authorities said.
Grand Crossing District police officers drove up to a building at 6:40 p.m. in the 400 block of East Marquette Road in the Woodlawn neighborhood to respond to a call of a man threatening suicide, according to Deputy Chief Berscott Ruiz of the South Chicago District, the Sun-Times is reporting.
When the officers got out of their vehicle, they saw a man sitting on a porch. The man lunged at them with a knife and twice struck the protective vest of one of the officer, Ruiz said on the scene Thursday night, citing a preliminary report.
The man then started walking eastbound, and when the officers asked him to drop his weapon, he turned around and again lunged at the officers, Ruiz said.
The man was shot twice in the torso and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, Ruiz said.
The injured officer also was taken to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries, Ruiz said. He was listed in good condition.
The knife used in the incident was recovered, police said.
Ruiz didnt take questions from the media at the scene of the incident.
The police officer performed as trained with shot placement to the the deadly threats body mass.
Unlike the media talking head experts who we know will say that in this case the officer should have shot the knife out of the perps hand.
What I am concerned about is, after already being struck by the knife the first time maybe the officer in that split second hesitate to shoot because of fear that he will be crucified by the Leftist media and lose his job, or worse?

Another One Out on Bond
Low bail by connected judges lets crime flourish:
A Little Village man has been charged in a shooting Tuesday night that was witnessed by police officers who fired on the gunman and arrested him after he pointed a gun at them, police said.
Hugo Minon, 18, was spotted firing at a 29-year-old man in the 2200 block of South Marshall Boulevard about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, police said. He’s been charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated assault of a police officer, unlawful possession of a firearm and defacing a firearm’s identification markings, according to police.
Minon already was on parole for unlawful use of a weapon in an incident that took place a block away in 2013.
Anyone notice the Tribune describes the offender as “A Little Village man....” But had we shot him, no doubt, it’d be oppressed and misunderstood minority youth.
And here he is, on the streets, with another gun, firing at other gang bangers and pointing it at the police. You want reform of the criminal justice system, start with the judges - cops are locking ‘em up, judges aren’t keeping ‘em there.

Thousands of mourners, including police officers from across the country, lined up outside the building for hours, slowly streaming inside to say goodbye to Ramos.
Agree the law is under control of liberals and they are the cause of the mess we are in.
