NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) Mayor Bill de Blasio is calling on New Yorkers to focus on the families of two slain NYPD officers in the coming days as tensions continue to run high between the mayor and police.
Speaking Monday at the Police Athletic League luncheon, de Blasio said its time to put aside political debates and protests until officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu are laid to rest.
Lets accompany these families on their difficult journeys. Lets see them through the funerals. Then, debate can begin again, he said. I think its a time for everyone to put aside political debates, put aside protests, put aside all of the things that we will talk about in all due time.

Unbelievable. What a roaring hypocrite. New York has to have really stupid voters to let this guy in office,
” Mayor Bill de Blasio is calling on New Yorkers to ..not kill any more cops, until we bury the current ones.
“(CNN) — The point-blank shooting of two New York City police officers this weekend is testing whether Mayor Bill de Blasio’s brand of unapologetic liberalism can work in a city that’s spent decades under mayors who made law and order a top priority.
De Blasio’s pledge to reform police practices helped sweep him into office last year. And he’s pushed for the right of demonstrators to gather in recent weeks to protest the killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner, two unarmed African American men, at the hands of white police officers.
But critics — including those in the police force — are accusing him of fomenting an anti-police fervor that contributed to the killings of officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos.
On Monday, de Blasio tried to reduce tension in the city. He said the murders this weekend were “an attack on all of us” during remarks to a luncheon at the Police Athletic League. He also called for a hiatus from the protests that have gripped the city and the nation, saying the should focus instead on Liu and Ramos’ families.”.........

Says the most partisan hack in the vicinity.
hes gonna do what...to stop the protests??
“Speaking Monday at the Police Athletic League luncheon”
was it an empty room? I’m serious. if not, why were any police attending it?
I’m wondering why Staten Island and south Brooklyn and south and eastern Queens aren’t talking about seceding from the liberal NY City and letting Comrade deBlasio (real name: Wilhelm) run the remaining mess.
I have no words to describe how upset I am about the execution of these good and decent men. New York-YOU voted for this a....ole. YOU need to stop the madness.
Shameless. Shameless - pimping the families’ grief live in presser.
First point would be to believe that DeBlasio has any interest in improving conditions in NYC. Which no one with his ideological history has ever done.
They voted for him because he paraded his mix-race family around. NewYork yuppies and hipsters never miss a chance to prove they are not racist.
[[New York has to have really stupid voters to let this guy in office,]]
It aint just NY- the whole country voted TWICE for our current dictator in chief
The mayor is a POS. The correct response would have been: There has been enough killing, no more protests in the street, no more racial rhetoric, no more attacks against the police or I will call in the National Guard to stand armed on every street corner.
Why doesn’t he let his escort go? After all, the problem is the police, right? He’d be perfectly safe among all those gentle giants, wouldn’t he?
what a BS news conference...who gives a crap where this shooter was b4 and what he had done hours before.
DeBlasio sent a subliminal to the A-Hole and he moved on it.
De Blasio is following the advice of high priced crisis consultants. One bit of advice the pubic will notice is that best buddies Sharpton and De Blasio will not be seen in the same room or together fora very, very long time.
