Joe Cocker has died aged 70 after a battle with lung cancer.
His management confirmed his passing to Britain's IITV News.
Born John Robert Cocker in Sheffield, he achieved international success as a blues/rock singer beginning in the 1960s and recorded 40 albums.
Belushi's number was titled "Lonely at the Bottom of the Barrel." Sample lyric: "I was making musical history, now I'm working for Muscular Dystrophy."
Chevy Chase was also in the cast.
Hell, Joe could barely finish the song when NOT crying.
To Mee--eeee (space) eee(Not hating. I love his version)
Ya I remember him most from the song with Jennifer Warnes from An Officer And A Gentleman.
Who dat backup ?
Mama's and Papa's ?
and the piano player .. I wann'a say Kotke ... but Kotke was a guitar player
My memory brain is reeling
THANX FG
Well said.. Belushi was pure talent... Bolted (went to seed) and blew away in the wind early.
Like a bird on the wire....
Thanks for the music and rest in peace
Just had that on the other night (vinyl) - that’s such a great album.
I wonder why.
On the other hand, I’ve also heard it reported that he hated the “Bee” sketch with a passion.
It’s called You Can Leave Your Hat On.
RIP Joe.
Who has the video of his misheard Woodstock lyrics?
“Someone left the creek out and I don’t know why” and “Probiotics can change the way you feel” are two that I recall.
And it’s played at EVERY wedding reception during the garter toss.
Leon Russell
Oh lawdy, that is hilarious!!
I’m not for sure, but I think Joe didn’t know that Belushi was going to come out and perform the skit alongside him,
And traveling to that Bourn beyond which he cannot return.
“Love lift us up where we belong”....
I am so saddened by this news. I have followed him since the 70s and still listen to him to this day.
RIP Joe.
If any white guy should have been black, it was him. I’ve seen him perform and yet, when I hear a video of Joe Cocker singing “Feelin’ Good”, I still picture somebody like Richie Havens singing.
Died with a little help from my friends.
Here it is!
