Most American kids attend public schools. On the other hand, the first daughters, Malia and Sasha, attend Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C. Tuition per student at the private school is $36,264 per year (but that includes a hot lunch).
For Tuesday, Dec. 9, the scrumptious, bountiful lunch menu for both the middle school and the upper school at Sidwell Friends is:
Potato Sausage Soup; Firecracker Slaw; California Chef’s Salad; All Natural Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings; Sweet Potato Black Bean Bake; Sautéed Local Greens; Gemelli Alfredo; Sliced Pineapple
This menu of completely free lunch items certainly sounds delicious and nutritious. Also, to be clear, it’s for a single day, not the entire week....

I had to wash dishes in elementary school in order to eat lunch. But lunch was good back in those days.
What’s that glop in the upper left tray and that thing lying on the right side of the tray? Tru Moo is real milk, right — right?

Kids could probably go down to the county jail and get a better meal.
ALL NYC school lunches that I've ever seen either feature frozen reheated pizza (carb-carb-carb), tortilla wrapped crap (carb-carb-carb), and other frozen/reheated pre-fabricated carb-rich junk. Then there is a scoop of overcooked broccoli or other veg (which is usually thrown away in the big rolling garbage cans circulating around the cafeteria), some beans or rice, and fruit of third rate quality, which usually ends up in a food fight being thrown at other students. Most of the 1/2 pints of milk seem to be consumed, and here's something which seems to defeat any attempt at healthy eating: there are 1 or 2 vending machines in the student cafeterias selling cookies, snacks and candy. I often see students getting their "lunch" straight out of these machines, without a single bite of the semi-nutritious food offered on the cafeteria line.
Tofu is really cheap compared to meat.
How about Tofu burgers?
I was driving from New Orleans to Orlando a couple of months ago and pulled into a town somewhere near Pensacola.
Saw a Whataburger joint and decided to give it a try.
Unbelievable how great it was, had jalapenos, must have weighed close to a pound, just incredible taste and fresh toppings.
This is what the people voted for. And those who didn’t vote for have accepted it. It started with Chelsea. Then came the Bushes, who defend the obamas every chance they get, and now the Obama kids. I guess next it will be Chelsea’s kid.
This crap reminds me of the scene in “V For Vendetta” when V made Natalie Portman breakfast using “real eggs and butter”; he stole it off of a transport to the Chancellor’s private residence.
Those foods had been banned, for “health reasions”, for the peons.

Who says that the Obama’s pay the standard tuition, or any, for that matter? By free, the author probably means included in the price.
Going on almost 60 years and they are spreading out from Texas. Best chain burger around.

My younger children had Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes one day this week. They loved it. But there have been other days when they said the same meal was awful. They had chicken this week as well. The younger two had two chicken legs each. My daughter’s class had thighs and wings. Daughter picked at hers. I saw a teacher with a chicken breast on her plate, and I commented that it actually looked kind of good. She pointed out the gel like goop that was on all of the chicken and told me it looked like the goop on the characters in Poltergeist when they came back to the light. Lol. That teacher did eat it though. And she survived.
I was in the lunchroom another day this week when they served sloppy joes. My children refuse to eat it. They say it is taco meat on a bun and that it is awful. These sandwiches come wrapped in waxed paper. I saw so many of those still wrapped and thrown away. Just crazy wasted food. Maybe they will take that off the menu. Haha.
In many cases, they are not. I have seen stories posted on this forum of government school essenpolizei searching kids' lunches and forcibly taking anything that doesn't meet their arbitrary "standards".
