A parade of ambitious California public figures, whove spent years itching for a shot at the states top political offices, are anticipating a shake-up of the states political hierarchy that could begin in a matter of weeks with the possible retirement of Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer. And some big names including the mayor of Los Angeles are already sizing up possible bids to succeed her.
Sources close to Boxer, 74, say the outspoken liberal senator will decide over the holidays whether to seek reelection in 2016 and will announce her plans shortly after the new year. Few of her friends believe she will run for a fifth term. Boxer has stopped raising money and is not taking steps to assemble a campaign. With Republicans taking over the Senate, she is about to relinquish her chairmanship of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.
.
. If she were to step aside, it would be the first big crack in the states upper political ranks in years. The last time the governorship was open was in 2010, when Jerry Brown, now 76, romped in a return to the job he first held more than three decades earlier. Boxer and Californias other senator, Democrat Dianne Feinstein, 81, were elected in 1992.
For a backlog of up-and-coming pols, their opportunity may finally be arriving and it will be very hard to to pass up.

Dumb as a Boxer of rocks.
The rocks would be a better choice for Senator.
Where California is concerned, the representation gets worse with every cycle. There hasn’t been a non-leftist in that Senate seat since Dick Nixon beat the Communist Helen Gahagan Douglas in 1950. Leftist RINO Tom Kuchel succeeded Nixon in ‘52 and the 2 Dem Reds after that, Alan Cranston in ‘68 & Boxer in ‘92. Only 3 Senators in what will be 64 years in Jan 2017.
When she retires she will be replaced with a stark-raving moonbat.
Guaranteed!
Shell be replaced by a woman who used to be a man, who now wants to be both. An academic who spent 15 years studying cannibal culture and ant colonies, and is a big proponent of forced battery powered public transportation and who feels America needs 75 million more immigrants.
And she’ll be placed on the Senate Armed Services Committee. Then she’ll become chairman when the rats take back the Senate.
Hmmm, maybe.....Laz?
Yes, but there's a growing (liberal) movement to abolish the Electoral College. I hear media idiots pushing that crazy idea even though they have no idea why the E.C. exists. Such ignorance will likely destroy our country.
Agreed, but it is virtually impossible that her replacement will be nearly as dumb as the Boxer.
You may have a point......... we’ll see.
Fantastic post, thanks!
Wish there was a Like button - Senator Ma’am. ;)
She needs to take that pig, Feinswine with her. Maybe they can start a new San Francisco **orehouse together. Americans can still afford a quarter.
Our best hope is a badly divided rat field that allows the exactly 2 Republicans who run to place first and second.
Retired Barbara you old witch
The replacement model has been grooming the young mush-brains at the University of California.
Remember Janet Napolitano - Senator in waiting.
Garbage in, garbage out, garbage in, garbage out. It’s Kalifornia, The Land Of Fruits And Nuts. No news here.
Exactly!
Boxer will be replaced by this ‘person’: A furry Space Alien who is a college professor studying Aztec transgender, who wants the middle class to take mass transit by outlawing private automobiles and by outlawing Christianity.
Time enough for Michelle Obama to get residence in CA.
Boxer’s college pics are online. Kinda plain in the 1960s, but in the ‘70s and ‘80s she chose the worst liberal Marin county styles.
Truth be told, it was young Dianne Feinstein who had the looks. There’s a pic of her as a stewardess you can find. Probably should have stayed a stewardess, and I’m sure it’s where she learned to hate people.
