LA Polls close at 8:00 PM CST - in one hour.
Post all updates here.
Define it how you want, it’s a lot more fun when posters don’t piss in the punch bowl.
You seem to be afraid of being happy for a few moments, or in this case a few hours. A short respite from the reality of a very serious situation.
Why posters insist on imposing their views on others is puzzling to me. It’s a lot like denying soldiers R and R.
Wow, very well put!!
I think the Debbie Downers have nearly ruined this board and for what? Doom and gloom certainly doesn't accomplish anything.
It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness. - Eleanor Roosevelt
It is a great quote. One of my favorites from a movie filled with them.
The beauty of it is, Patton actually said it. Another Patton gem, not in the movie IIRC, also speaks to the wisdom of vigilance...
“Attack rapidly, ruthlessly, viciously, without rest, however tired and hungry you may be, the enemy will be more tired, more hungry. Keep punching.”
Have a great day, Syncro! :-)
When I first heard of the jungle primary, I was concerned that it would be more difficult to get a conservative as the GOP representative in the general. Now I’m not so sure. Anyone seen a good discussion on this? I have some thoughts, but I have found examples where they didn’t seem to pan out.
OK, so come January 3, the five longest-held Democrat U.S. Senate seats will be:
1. Reed’s RI seat (since Jan. 1937)
2. Baldwin’s WI seat (since Aug. 1957)
3. Manchin’s WV seat (since Jan. 1959)
4. Schatz’s HI seat (since statehood in Aug. 1959)
5. Heitkamp’s ND seat (since Aug. 1960)
I think that we have a good chance of picking off three of those five in 2018.
The WI and ND seats clearly have a hex on them. If the Cubs can win the WS in or before 2018, that will be a good sign. ;p
Vermont still has that requirement and the legislature will be selecting a governor to fill the new term. No candidate got 50%. The Democrat incumbent Schumlin had the lead, but the Pubbie won't concede.
A conservative can lead the jungle primary rather easily. However, it's much easier for the moderate candidate to pick up conservative votes in the general runoff than the conservative, who may face some crossover vote to the Rat.
With that said, Louisiana is a solidly Republican state at this point in time. Any Pubbie that's ahead after the jungle primary should win the general in any statewide race.
Punch bowl?
Check your cheerios, that’s probably not milk.
My state of mine, happiness etc, isn’t controlled by political turns of events.
Respite fine, but slamming others for keeping their eyes on what is happening politically...sorry some of us stay alert 24/7.
And using a juvenile phrase? Clymeric in nature.
You want to address the part about denying soldiers their R & R?
Sure.
Your quote:
“Why posters insist on imposing their views on others is puzzling to me. Its a lot like denying soldiers R and R.”
You insist on imposing YOUR views on me. So are you denying etc etc?
You have raised the absurdity level substantially.
This debate is nonsense.
Keep your powder dry!
You avoided answering my question, and I understand why.
I will address the nonsense issue you raised anyway:
++
It isn’t nonsense to those who simply want a short respite from the constant reminder that we are facing potentially civilization ending enemies.
++
Notice that I am unable to impose my views on anyone else, including you.
Your question was a straw man question.
You’ve gone full circle now.
Be ever vigilant.
(Did you ever go to the actual celebration thread?)
Yeah, I knew would be unable to come up with an answer.
Bored?
