Not a chokehold: Truth of the Garner arrest
NY Post ^ | 8/14/2014 | Bo Dietl

It wasn’t a chokehold.

That’s just the biggest single distortion in all the talk about the Eric Garner case, in which the public has been misinformed and misled from the start.

The Rev. Al Sharpton has never had to put himself in harm’s way to protect our streets against crime, as our police officers do every day. He’s in no way qualified to stand on his soapbox and dictate procedures. I spent decades in law enforcement. During my time with the NYPD, I was responsible for over 1,400 felony arrests — any of which could’ve required the use of deadly physical force. Volunteering to be a decoy cop in the 1970s, I was the victim of more than 500 muggings, about 30 of which injured me seriously enough that I was hospitalized. I wound up in countless physical situations and was always able to get the perp into cuffs.

The mayor needs to start supporting his commissioner and his officers. They’ve earned it.

An almost tragically funny appeal. Because that is the LAST thing De Blasio will do.

De Blasio is an out and out commie. His power base are the people who don’t want to be policed and the liberals too stupid to know the consequences. NY has been safe too long; people forgot what it was like under Dinkins.

They will find out again—and then some.

Much as I hate to quote a Times editorial, is there any truth to their statement that Garner couldn’t breathe because he was prone on the ground with cops pushing on his back to hold him down, forcing his overweight midsection into a distorted position that kept his diaphragm from moving? That sounds so much more likely to me. Not sure it matches the autopsy evidence.

Fatboy should have been issued a ticket, and released. Arrest him when he doesn’t pay. Not worth an arrest, FGS!

I think the bigger question is why are 4 cops trying to arrest a guy who sold one single solitary cigarette in the first place

It all depends of the call from the business owner behind him on what they said was going down. Maybe the owner said it was a huge man. If the cops had a sumo wrestler then all they would have needed was one. Who in the hell knows.

He would have died anyway. It was his time. If only he had been submissive to the Crown, he would still be alive today.

The person most responsible for his death received immunity from prosecution because of her skin color.

BLACK FEMALE Police Sergeant Supervised Eric Garner’s Deadly Arrest

“and able to say he couldn’t breathe”.

The fact that he could say he couldn’t breathe seems to say he could breathe. I wonder if he was just saying that so the cops would panic, back off, and he could try to get away.

"The officers who approached Garner were responding to community complaints about his ongoing activities."

Absolute garbage, I grew up in NYC and finally got smart and moved two years ago. The cops always say that. The bottom line is the NYPD is ORDERED by LIBERALS to take to the streets and act as tax collectors and shakedown artists.

You must have hated it when Giulani went after street solicitors big time. Most folks I know there liked it. Having commuted through that garbage myself and often being hassled by street solicitors, I thought it was a good thing too.

And retail merchants who play by the rules despise solicitations in front of their store. I remember when the merchants themselves would have to chase after the street vendors when the police wouldn't do it.

” It’s way too many people working for the taxman taking down a disabled man”

Don’t forget the one cop you don’t see in the vid. The Black, female sergeant who was supervising the arrest. And she got immunity to testify!

When you have someone on the ground from behind with your arm around their throat it is a choke. Regardless of the cause. Let’s not play the redefinition games.

To the democrats, not paying your taxes is a capital offense.

Unless of course, you’re one of their top cronies like Warren Buffett.

*************
Do you think it’s morally wrong to tax cigarettes? The government is bloated, but it certainly needs at least some taxes. And a tax on a cancer causing substance is certainly better than the income tax.

Garner said HE COULDN’T BREATH.

He was breathing. He was having a hard time breathing.

And of course there are many reasons why a strggling, aggravated, 400 pound asthmatic laying on the ground would have a hard time breathing.

This is quite a guy. I’m trying to imagine the police decoy job he did. Mugged 500 times and hospitalized with injuries 30 of those times. Some people are just natural warriors and can do these incredible life and death adrenaline rush jobs. Like the special forces guys who storm into terrorist compounds. My knees would be knocking together so badly I’d be totally useless. But these guys can do it. It is truly incredible to me and I am grateful that such people exist and do what they do.

He had the right to his day in court, but he didn’t have a right to resist arrest.

Yeah, I bet he's feeling pretty sheepish about that now! Oh, wait. He's dead. Over a cigarette.

Oh well. Too bad - so sad!

Yep, the liberals love the poor people, but when a man who can not work for a living for some reason goes out to sell a few cigarettes at a cheaper price to make a dollar when he could be robbing liquor stores, they kill him.

Yep they really love the poor people and the blacks.

Where would the arm around his neck rank in list of reasons? Serious question.
