The Staten Island man who took the cellphone video seen around the world of a cop killing Eric Garner with a chokehold said Thursday the grand jury was rigged. “I think they already had their minds made up,” Ramsey Orta told the Daily News a day after the panel voted not to charge Officer Daniel Pantaleo with a crime.

It really is just all about power, authority and money, isn’t it?

Is that what happened? Police just walked up and decided to take him out?

When did it become optional for someone caught committing a crime to chose whether or not they are to be arrested?

And of course the cops were white and the defendant was black. If it was the reverse, black cops would get away with it. Every one know

Not mentioned too often is the fact that the officers supervisor a BLACK WOMAN SERGEANT was on the scene. She did nothing to stop the arrest.

When did it become ok for the police to kill someone who committed a misdemeanor? I bet you approve of No Knock Warrants and Asset Forfeiture laws too.

He didn’t.

He was arrested, placed in AN AMBULANCE, driven to the hospital, and then later died the hospital.

Maybe the hospital should be charged with his death.

“An ambulance was immediately called to the scene and Mr. Garner was transported by EMS to Richmond University Medical Center. He went into cardiac arrest while he was in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead approximately one hour later at the hospital.”

Maybe you should learn about what you are speaking of before you speak of it.

He should have never had to have an ambulance called for him. Keep making excuses for thugs masquerading as police.
One day it just might be you or a member of your family in this position. Like it or not the police see you as an enemy too. None of the cops in the video even attempted to talk this through. They rolled up ready for a fight. There was zero justification for the use of force here.

This guy is just doing his part in making sure Mike Judge is regarded as a modern-day Nostradamus.

"I’m thinking NYPD and it’s Democrat masters were way too interested in making an example of bootleg cigarette sellers. "

If they were serious about it, the guy wouldn't have been arrested 30 other times for the same crime. How about the courts taking him off the street for a while?

You’re saying that the Police chose to simply kill the man because he committed a misdemeanor? Again, is that really what happened? Kind of thought there was an element of resisting arrest for a crime that had been observed.

Or are you saying that if I’m caught committing a misdemeanor I can tell the Police Officer to bug off. That I’ve chosen to follow whatever laws I wish and whether or not there should be consequences. Got it.

I won’t disagree. To my mind it is better for the courts to take him off the streets than a coroner did in this case.

"He should have been given a citation and been told when he needs to be in court."

He was...30 other times. It didn't stop him. The NYPD isn't like the UN. You don't continually issue resolutions to law breakers without following through. The guy should have been sentenced to time behind bars for repeated offenses.

I don’t know what the NYC laws are in this, but is selling cigarettes without a license a felony or is it a misdemeanor?

The officer used an NYPD sanctioned suppression hold. Preliminary autopsy showed no injury to windpipe or neck.

He should have never had to have an ambulance called for him.

I see. So after his complaints of breathing trouble after the struggle he started, you would have denied him an ambulance?

Keep making excuses for thugs masquerading as police.

All I did was state the truth of this matter, which you seem to be completely ignorant of and a complete stranger to as evidenced by your statement that he died on the sidewalk, which clearly DID NOT HAPPEN.

I know facts are troubling to you bleeding hearts, but facts are facts. Too bad.

One day it just might be you or a member of your family in this position. Like it or not the police see you as an enemy too.

No, my family members are not idiots or criminals, and they defer to police and their orders.

None of the cops in the video even attempted to talk this through.

You mean except for the part where they were talking to him before placing him under arrest which he then resisted?

Maybe you should stop living in fantasy land.

There was zero justification for the use of force here.

Oh yes there was. He resisted arrest. Justification provided.

Check out this NY Times article about "loosie" cigarette sellers in NY City from 2011:

A Cigarette for 75 Cents, 2 for $1: The Brisk, Shady Sale of ‘Loosies’

Constantly being arrested and put in jail for a few days is a game with these guys, because they know they'll be right back out on the street hustling. They go into jail, and get their three hots and a cot, plus free medical care.

If we didn’t have officers upholding the law,our cities would be utter chaos. With that, cops are accountable for a life just like you or I.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

But the same coroner rules the death a homicide, so how is that relevant?

And that is relevant to this situation exactly how?

The dude was not murdered by cops.

Yet your response would be to lie in ambush...

Is that what you are telling me?
