Charges Dropped For Cop Who Fatally Shot Sleeping 7-Year-Old Girl

The shooting happened just after midnight, back on May 16, 2010.

A SWAT team had conducted a raid to search for a murder suspect. Weekly ended up being first through the door.

There was even a film crew on hand to film for a reality show about murder investigations. Weekley says that another SWAT member had thrown a flash-bang grenade, which temporarily blinded him. That’s when he fired the shot that killed Aiyana who was asleep on the couch in the front room of the house.

Doubling down on this claim, in court he actually testified that Aiyana’s grandmother had somehow “touched” his gun, which made him fire the shot. But he failed to explain how he could tell she had done this when he claimed he couldn’t see anything at the time.

The prosecution noted that even having his finger on the trigger of his submachine gun was improper. “He could have avoided injury if he had followed his training,” Assistant Wayne County Prosecutor Robert Moran explained.

“He didn’t, and as a result of him not following his training and not following the mandates of ordinary care, someone was killed.”

But ultimately, the arguments and reason didn’t win out.

The problem is this type of idiocy appears to be occurring with greater frequency nationwide.

There’s too much shoot-first-ask-questions-later nowadays.

For the record, I’m not talking about Ferguson; the grand jury made the right decision in that case.

But, in cases like this one, some officers are too quick on the trigger.

Rest in peace, Aiyana. What a beautiful name.

Shit such as this is what gives birth to Fergusons

No ... thugs and leftist professional agitators give birth to Fergadishu.

This sort of thing, where the cops actually ARE in the wrong, are why the agitators can get some traction with normal people.

I mean, even Farrakhan, irresponsible flamethrower that he is.

Would he dare to raise the subject of something like this?

I don’t think he would. His agenda isn’t even what he says it is.

Calypso Louie, Fat Albert, and $hakedown Je$$e are professional agitators. Their agenda is The Revolution; whatever they’re ranting about today is just a tool to promote The Revolution.

It is a kind of a “bad karma” situation. Hide behind unions, you can’t hide from morality.

That’s true, they would not want a cause that could even plausibly get addressed through any sort of peaceful political action.

They want to drive a people desperate and to do desperately wicked things.

we got a visit from some confused local Deputies who didn't know the variation on the streets, looking for a parolee who shared my first name, and the street address, but the NE version where ours was the SW.

Same problem here. Our home address is almost identical to the addresses of two other houses nearby - with the same number and street name. This has caused confusion with people delivering to the wrong house, etc. Thankfully, no one has come looking for a parolee yet, but our luck could run out.

Brings back memories of how many times the feds could have picked up David Koresh while he was out jogging, but no.... they have to burn a bunch of women and children to death. Welcome to the new Police State devoid of common sense!

The folks who go rabid over the names of Trayvon and Michael would just yawn about this.

I wouldn't let this prick have a bb gun.

I don’t see that it is more common based on statistics but the problem is that it should never happen and the benefit certainly doesn’t out weigh the life lost in this kind of situation. We shouldn’t be having babies getting burned with smoke grenades and getting shot by cops who kick doors down in a situation that is totally uncontrollable. It just doesn’t make any sense. Also I still believe in the idea of warrants when the individuals who are being served are treated like human beings something that doesn’t disappear simply because they are suspected of growing some weed or running a meth lab.

It might be different if this kind of tactic were actually working but it clearly isn’t so you can’t even say that this kind of accident is offset by the clear benefit to society which is something I always find to be a suspect idea because any kind of tyranny can be justified under the guise of public good. Millions of Jews went into the furnaces in the service of what the National Socialist Party in Germany defined as the greater good. All should be wary of the wide use of that justification.

You can’t count on being safe from this malfeasance just because you are law abiding. Many times they go to the wrong house.

I once had a cop burst through the door to my back stairs because the landlord downstairs had a burgler alarm that went off. We scared the cr*p out of each other.

Luckily it was the middle of the day. Luckily I wasn’t sitting there rolling or joint or cleaning my gun or something else that might have “provoked” an undue reaction.

But I often look back at that and shudder that it might have turned out badly.

So attracting the attention of a swat team is grounds for exactly what, then?
