President Barack Obama wants to see more police wearing cameras to help build trust between the public and police by recording events like the shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, but is not seeking to pull back federal programs that provide the type of military-style equipment used to dispel the resulting racially-charged protests in Ferguson, Missouri.
The White House announced the conclusions of a three-month review Monday as the president was holding a series of meetings with his Cabinet, civil rights leaders, law enforcement officials and others to go over the findings. At least for now, Obama is staying away from Ferguson in the wake of a racially charged uproar over a grand jurys decision last week not to charge the police officer who fatally shot Brown, 18.

If we can save just one life, it will be worth it.
Colonoscopy Cameras
Finally, one thing that I can agree with the Dork-in-Chief about.
Of course, (not)Sharpton - the man who’s IQ forms the baseline from which all others are measured - will claim that we can no longer believe our lying eyes when the cameras expose this fat slob’s lies.
“I want my lawyer now.”
Oops, an Obama moment...that’s whose, not who’se.
I keep doing this and I’ll be stupid enough to work for MSNBC.
I have an idea. How about all members of the Obama administration wear a microphone throughout the day so the audio can be streamed live on C-SPAN so there’s full transparency in gov’t so as to build trust between our public officials and its citizenry.. Uhhh errr, so there’s no scandals or anything like that, you know..
Obama’s lack of interest in Black on Black or Black on White killings is noticeable isn’t it? He and Holder are even bigger race baiters than Sharpton and Jackson.
Put one on him first.
Obama needs to explain where he was and what he was doing the night of the Benghazi debacle first.
Body cameras is the LAST thing our black brethren need. This will cause them far more problems than solutions.
I support politicians wearing body cameras at all times. We need to be able to keep track of what those idiots are up to and who they are making deals with.
If anyone needs a body camera it is Urkel
I am 100% pro police and I am 100% for this.
The incidents of FALSE allegations against an officer happen way more times than the the other way around.
ANY public official and (almost) ALL public moneys spent should be visibly, transparent, open for public inspection and review.
We should just have cameras everywhere! No space should be left unmonitered. We could call our government Big Brother and we would all know that they are always watching! I read a “how to” manual about how that society should be run....
I actually agree with Zero, for once.
Of course, what will happen is the facts won’t be helping Zero and his racist buddies.
I think this is a good thing. Might have saved a whole lot of looting and mass hysteria if there had been one on Darren Wilson. People could actually see he wasn’t politely standing there with his hands up saying “don’t shoot”.
Also I’ve seen stories where police mention they are wearing a camera and the people who were giving them a bunch of crap will immediately shut up and start acting more respectful. Good on both sides I believe.
Just was reading DU (as I often do to get their perspective) and they are thinking TEA party people are really going to get their panties in a wad about this and I’m thinking they have no idea what we’re about. Truth, justice and the American way lol. We want the police to have that protection so people cannot make unfounded accusations.
I approve of body cameras on cops. It may be slightly expensive, but it will save a few cop careers a year. It will remove the excuse for uncertainty on how a thug behaved when confronted by a cop. It will remove the excuses justifying one or two riot marathons a year. That’s worth the cost. We need to start solving problems, and it at least used to be true that a small fraction of these reports had some factual basis.
Let’s make the problem go away and show the thug on national TV charging a cop and getting shot, dead, as he so richly deserves. Let’s make the problem go away and generate unambiguous evidence when a cop steps way over the line with a thug or suspected thug. Both outcomes are steps in the right direction. Solving problems is a good thing, and the price of this solution is reasonable for the scope of the problem.
....and I want more Americans off of welfare....and blacks committing less violent crime. Deal?
