A British scientist whose research focuses on projects that could alter Earth's environment in drastic ways in an effort to curb or mitigate the effects of global warming admitted that the idea itself terrifies him.

Probably a good sign that you shouldn't do it, one would think.

Without reading the article, sounds like one of those idiots who proposed covering arctic snow with oil to help absorb/hold in the heat in order to combat the climate catastrophe du jour - Global Cooling

He should be terrified.
Climate is a complex system, vulnerable to minor changes in input such as solar radiation, dissolved gas and pollution.
He is smart enough to know that and wonders: “what if I’m wrong?”

Good point. When you act to solve a problem that does not exist by changing the elements of the situation you will inevitably create the very problem you are seeking to solve.

I’ve even heard serious suggestions about setting off nuclear weapons in order to trigger a “mild nuclear winter” effect as a preemptive measure. That is, before any signs of global warming even exist.

BTW, I saw the movie and it was ultimately depressing and riddled with preachy leftist nonsense. I normally like train movies, but not this one.

Considering the “expert” modeling has been so consistently wrong, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume the solutions could be equally wrong. Undintended consequences are a bitch.

Another clueless academic who wants to Gruber the environment.
To paraphrase Gruber, “We never dreamed our theories would ever actually be implemented on such a vast scale!”

What was the name of that movie...? Earth had frozen over after scientists tried to reverse global warming. People were living underground. One group had turned cannibal.

That has always been my fear. Some moron working for some stupid and decadent western government actually stumbles upon a productive method to cool the planet quickly. A planet that has been locked in an ice age for thousands of years.
Wonder if any other dominant species in the universe has been dumb enough to contemplate cooling an ice age planet during one of its brief inter-glacial periods ? The good news is that might make us historic in the universe. Dumbest dominant planetaty species ever to exist ! Were number one !

Actually it wasn't. The total global freeze was caused by a leftist experiment gone drastically wrong that was supposed to combat global warming.........
With that being said, I thought it sucked........LOL!
