The self-righteous indignation of liberals was on full display last night, as the Grand Jury announced their decision not to indict Officer Darren Wilson over the death of Michael Brown. Strangely absent was a sense of concern over the violence, destruction, and social devolution that erupted in St Louis. Instead, as expected, there was a profoundly misplaced anger over the decision of a Grand Jury that was presented with facts, eyewitness accounts, and forensic evidence.
1 Ezra Klein
Ezra Klein is an idiot. But, dont take my word for it. (I mean heck, John Ransom and I explain it every week on Ransom Notes Radio, but we wont go through all of that here.) Sometimes, when he speaks, people around him are visibly concerned that his idiocy may be contagious
So who represented Michael Brown before the grand jury?— Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) November 25, 2014
Um… I guess that would have been the prosecutor. Are you aware of this new thing the kids are using called Google?
2 Christopher Hayes
Chris put his journalistic skills on full display with this stunning insight on Twitter:
What McCulloch is describing procedurally is so far removed from normal criminal procedure it's unrecognizable.— Christopher Hayes (@chrislhayes) November 25, 2014
Really? Because Im pretty sure that a Grand Jury is actually a thing. And for those of you unable to contact google for an explanation (ahem*EzraKlein*ahem) heres a link.
3 Harold Itzkowitz
Ill be honest… I had to look this guy up. But he still made my list:
So, stealing Cigarillos and jaywalking brings the death penalty #FergusonDecision— Harold Itzkowitz (@HaroldItz) November 25, 2014
Well, no. Committing a strong-armed robbery is not, by itself, justification for a death penalty. But premature death is certainly a distinct possibility for anyone attempting to attack and disarm a police officer.
So, to answer your question: I guess it depends on how you react when a cop tries to talk to you about jaywalking. (Hint: Dont reach for his gun.)
4 Geraldo Rivera
I really hate saying nice things about Geraldo. But, I guess it has to happen on occasion:
Creeps breaking windows are spitting on memory of Michael Brown. Cool down. Work in Brown family campaign for cops' body cameras.— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) November 25, 2014
Geraldo manages to point out the obvious (a demonstrably difficult task for leftists in times of crisis), by calling the riotous protestors insurgents creeps. But its his call for body cameras on cops that should really draw the applause.
Advocates of law enforcement, as well as skeptics of authority, seem to have a rare opportunity to agree on something: A few more body cams would probably go a long way in reducing (or at least exposing) police abuse. And, as an added bonus, it would also protect police from false allegations of misconduct.
Michael Browns death is a tragedy; but not simply because a police officer made the split second decision to defend his own life with lethal force. The real tragedy seems to be overlooked by these self-righteous peddlers of racial animosity, as it is replayed throughout the nation (without MSNBC coverage, riots, protests, or the Reverend Al Sharptons inadequate command of the English language).
Sadly, the abandonment of the African American community by the very Democrats, progressives, and liberals who currently act so outraged over the shooting of a violent criminal is the larger injustice playing out in Modern America. Are we expecting any Liberal outrage over the shootings in Chicago? Where is Ezra Kleins ill-informed quip about gang violence in Los Angeles? Is anyone covering the routine violence that occurs in the suburbs of Detroit?
Or are those examples of a suffering minority community simply not sexy enough for the American Left to notice?
It probably isn’t, but if that was a burning cop car, how many who made it happen realize they might just as well have pulled dollar bills out of their pocket and thrown them on the fire.
...that is, if there were any dollar bills in those pockets. Passing economics 101 means you must have dollar bills and understand basic econ. Facts not understood by people who burn cars much less police cars, or loot and destroy for the sport.
The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the revolution.
Nice job with the fake hand-drawn signs and the rent-a-mob.
....And the grand jury defeated this so-called revolution and “exposed it” for the LOSERS they are.
1. Idiot boys death was not a tragedy, it was a “coming to Jesus” moment for a thug.
2. I really don’t think these idiot want us to play “cowboys and thugs”. They’ll lose in a bad way.
From an eternal POV, they certainly will be if they don't repent.
From a temporal POV ... win or lose remains to be seen. It ain't over yet.
Nothing screams “edgy Marxist” better than picketing with signs in one hand while carrying the world’s finest capitalist achievements in the other hand.
Hence the need for those evil unnecessary armored vehicles that people rail against here. They don’t burn and can’t be tipped over...
To them it’s other people’s money.
According to the DA he Wilson didn't stop Brown for jaywalking (although he was). He was responding to a call about a strong arm robbery. He knew the perp had stolen a box of cigarellos, and was wearing a white shirt, khaki shorts and yellow socks, when he spotted Brown carrying a box of cigarellos, wearing a white shirt, khaki shorts and yellow socks.
Just might be, since they failed econ 101, but if you fail to see the forest does that mean there aren’t any trees?
Ignorance is so disgusting when the facts are falling all around you and you still don’t get it. I’m sure you know that “you” in this sentence is not aimed at you specifically, but the ignorant in general.
Reminds me of the two pro global warming letters to the editor this past week in the local paper. They are so converted that attempting to correct would fall on deaf ears, and blind eyes.
That assumes that they pay taxes.
Someone should ask Obama his contribution to this ‘Black Anger’ by the fact that youth unemployment is so bad 6 years into his term.
When it comes to econ 101 I’m not too sure that taxes are even part of the curriculum. I think you have to get to 201 before that is taught.
It does bring up the subject of the economy, which is humming right along to hear this administration tell it, which is why I was only mildly surprised to hear a large retailer in our area closing 200 stores due to bankruptcy. Alco focuses on smaller towns and cities where in some cases they would be the only retail department store within many many miles.
It's so on any issue with any liberal. They "feel" that their position is correct, so that settles the matter.
Constitutional rights are only for Dems not Republicans. FRee speech is fine unoess a Dem disagrees with what is being said. Due process is fine until the Dems disagree with the outcome.
A battle royal is evolving over whether we will be ruled by law or by one party dictat.
The left is evolving into a fascist demographic war machine. And a civil war like battle will be the only way to resolve the issue.
Sharpton, Obama and Holder are responsible for this.
“Someone should ask Obama his contribution to this Black Anger by the fact that youth unemployment is so bad 6 years into his term.”
But he will not rest until there is so much more to do.
Sharpton, Obama and Holder are responsible for this.
...actually white plantation owners who just couldn’t be bothered to pay migrant workers to harvest the crops are to blame...
"The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so."
- Ronald Reagan
