That will not work, most of these illegals don't work for employers who would follow the law. They either pay them under the table or hire them under a 1099 employer. The rest of them work odd jobs in landscaping, construction day work paid under the table. Even with this new Amnesty, these illegals are not going to rush to legal employers for work. There are not enough jobs plus their skills are very limited not to mention they do not speak English. Noting will change until we 1. Secure the border, (very secure Fence, moat, gators, whatever it takes) 2. eliminate anchor babies 3. immediately deport anyone caught violating the law (DUI, theft, domestic violence, etc). It may take some time but eventually the number of illegals will start to drop and then we can focus on a proper Legal immigration system.
Jail the employers then.
The immigration laws are a something like alcoholic beverages.
Alcohol itself is a very good thing, as teetotaler & former bartender A. Lincoln put it. It is the abuse of alcohol that is a bad thing.
Our immigration laws are fine. The failure to enforce our immigration and naturalization laws is the problem.
It is the executive branch which is charged by the Constitution with enforcing federal laws and with protecting the several states from invasion.
Obama is NOT empowered with creating new laws that suit him. That is what is “broken” here.
(This is 9th grade `Civics’ by the way.)
Any Congress critter with a smidgen of self-respect, or respect for the rule of law and our form of government, should be ready to fight over this bare theft, this usurpation by a coequal branch of government.
It’s crazy to me, that, we don’t enforce laws on the books, and then, because we don’t enforce the laws already on the books, we claim the system is broken.
Then, based on saying the system is broken, we say, we have to do something.
Then, based on the Congress, the GOP, not agreeing to what Obama wants, we say, Congress didn’t act, so Obama needs to act alone. Obama is impatient, Obama waited long enough, etc. So then this string of reasoning leads to the president issuing decrees.
Something is very wrong with this picture and the logic involved in getting to this point.
What is broken is the enforcement of immigration laws. For about 25 years every president since then has done next to nothing to stop illegal aliens at the border and to deport them when they are caught.
The president also takes an oath to faithfully execute the duties of his office and the main duty is to enforce the damned laws.
Can’t fix something that isn’t broke.
The immigration law is not broken, it is not being enforced. What is broken is the one who took an oath of office swearing to uphold the laws of the land, and refuses to do so..
What law? i didn’t know there were any any longer.
were the immigration laws repealed?
How would they know whether it was broken or not? They’ve never enforced since Eisenhower. Operation wet back seemed to cause a lot of self deportation.
It depends on what the meaning of the word is is.
The concept of law Constitutional and otherwise is falling apart from the enforcement side(as the words haven’t changed).
I suppose that is logical sense the unaccountable Federal courts would be strained to care less about what was written and practiced by our founders and increasingly even what is written by congress. And Now the Exclusive branch has jumped in on the scam of lawlessness.
Given that John has renounced using the purse and impeachment hes really quite out of options.
Our leaders it seems are nearly as corruptly incompetent as Obama and just as much entrenched. As a result our votes are pointless. It seems to be time to start looking our States and ultimately our guns to protect our rights with the last option we have available.
Yes immigration law is broken. In the early nineties I hired out casual labor from job service. They would send people with ID that it was obvious fake documents I was told I was not an expert on documents and I could be investigated for EEOT violation. I liked a lot of the workers I hired even though I know they were not likely legal and I don’t care now. The government let them here 20-25 years ago and did nothing. The Republicans have to do something because it was not just a democratic thing that got us here.
99% of enforcing eVerify is prosecuting employers who hire under the table. It will not be easy, but it can be done if we have the will.
